Posting "How fast you were going" does nothing but incriminate the guilty so How big was your fine?

I'll start the ball rolling with 90 euros for shooting a loony in the back of the head with a super soaker, or was it cutting a solid whit line ?

Another worrying point is that you don't actually pay your fine when you hand over the dosh according to the paperwork I got I have simply paid "a deposit" against any fine that the courts may impose.

A Lambo driver was apparently done at 202mph/320kph and will be enjoying 2 months in the French clink.

Okey Dokey..........840 euros Not me but a friend of mine in his 996 coughed up the above as he was stopped twice. 90 euros for the first and 750 for the second. Guess Les Flics do not like Porker drivers either. The driver in question reckons that when he was stopped the second time the garlic eating surrender monkey had a plastic bag full of English licenses.

Happened to a mate of mine...

96 on a 60ish type road.
£500 (in FF) on the spot fine.
Took his passenger as 'hostage' and gave him a map to a bank to go and get it.
Took him a few hours, but he got the cash, came back & paid it, and left.
2 months later got a letter through the post saying his case went to court and he was fined £700. Please send a cheque for the extra £200 as you've only paid a deposit.
Natural reaction = "NO WAY!", but looked into it and is well known. They charge 10% extra PER MONTH, COMPOUNDING until it's paid! So, picture the scene - 5 years later you go to France on hol and as you drop into Lyon, you're pulled to one side and asked to pay £10,000.
So, he paid the extra £200.

You can't get away with speeding before / after LeMans any more ;(

The knack is to go in an unassuming car. We were a little late leaving the campsite and where possible were hitting and passing three figures on most roads.
Arrived at Le Havre 3 mins before the boat was due to sail.

The car I was in (but not driving) was pulled over and fined 135 Euros, and we were in a Vectra!

Another car was pulled over a few minutes later and fined 750 Euros.

And another car had been pulled over 4 hrs earlier was charged with speeding and drink driving (2 beers at lunch time... oops) and was fined 950 Euros.

Finally, I met 2 guys on the ferry home who had been pulled over 3 times and each time blagged that their driving license was in a bag with their friends further up the road that they were meeting in Calais. They were initially told one of their fines was 750 Euros but on claiming the "license was with their friends" the fine was reduced to 90 Euros! It seems that without your license on you (but still in France) they can fine you only 90 Euros!!!

Anyone else heard this?

I was fined 135 E for 144 in a 90 km/h, and the onion loving garlic smelling busy bee kept my licence, fines, points whatever I'll take on the chin for speeding, but keeping my licence - why ?

How do I get the licence back as anyone any experience of this ?

One poor guy who was travelling alone was asking everyone there to drive his car for him. There was only the two of us, so we couldn't help - wonder how he got home, unbelievable.

The guy with the Lambo was camping just along from us in Karting Nord (PCGB area) and the story we were told was that he got a EUR750 fine and a 3 day ban - meaning he had to stay an extra day in France. Worth the price of entry if you ask me.

I heard this second hand but have no reason to doubt it.

See this is exactly what I thought when I posted the thread about the Lambo driver and how Chinese Whispers take over.

Told today (little tip here) that if you go into a french police station and make a contibution to their benevolent fund you get a sticker

Put that on your window and they are much more generous when stopped

Bribes before getting stopped - what next
