I can't believe they are closing the road between Mulsanne Corner and the Porsche Curves? Is this true?

Won't they shut the road anyway for the Thursday qualifying ? Then reopen it on the Friday. It is a public road.

If the road closures are true then i have suggested another meeting point here
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=25&t=103715

Say if you think this is a good meeting point on the other thread and then I'll get the calendar changed and update my initial post in this thread.

Thanks

Hang on a sec...

The same source of information that said that it will be closed also says that's not true (on the second page).

I can't imagine them closing it. It's a major part of the weekend.

From that forum

some chap said:
"Just checked it with some 'friends/collegues' -- one had contact with the ACO person in charge of communications and told me not to worry at all.

-Mulsanne, Arnage and Porsche will be open as usual
-he also confirmed the President of France won't be there "

Setting off tomorrow so thought I'd re-check this thread to see where everybody's meeting up. Got totally confused and started losing the will to live! So where is it? Mulsanne? Between Arnage and Indeanapolis? The sports shop?

I'll add this to the initial post so that everyone gets to see it.

The idea now is to meet at your camp site entrance and head of towards the Indy and Arnage corners between 10-11am.

If the circuit is closed then we will meet in the car park of the Decathlon car park, half way down the Mulsanne straight. (if thats closed as well I'll eat my hat!).

If anyone is interested after this we'll try and convoy down the mulsanne and end up South of Le Mans at Chateau du loir (or similar name) for lunch.

If all of the above fails we'll al sit by our own tents getting well and truly bladdered.

Hope this helps...

- Drive out of your campsite and head for the entrance to the circuit.
- Drive down the road that runs parallel to the Grandstands/pit lane (ie. outside the main bit of the circuit).
- This road will turn into the "drag strip" and looks like this
- After a while you will come across what is clearly the circuit itself.
- Have a little drive around and go "Oooo".
- Look for loads of cars on a road like this (hint: it's BLOODY difficult to miss!)
- You then want to look out for Pistonheaders - I imagine it won't be difficult. People just park up and watch the world go by. Click

If you get there really early, you get to have a major blat on the track, but by 10 it's generally down to a crawl.

Bring BBQ, beers and chairs - it's a relaxed affair! Oh, and don't forget your bright yellow PH t-shirt - the team spirit is important here

Just got back this morning, a riot of a weekend!! Judging by the amount of yellow t-shirts on Mulsanne it was almost a PH takeover!!

The guy was sound! Loads of yellow T-Shirts and yet another fantastic collection of cars. The guy with the F40 was sound too. Was that your blue viper? Venom 500 that was covered in racing sponsorship? Photos coming soon Chimaera S3TAY
