Yep - it should be a lot quieter than the main event.

You really should come along to Dover - the ride down from Calais is brilliant!

I think a few Mid Essex peeps are going for a recce prior to the main event, and I'd like to go to have a chance to get some good photos without having too many crowds to deal with (and hopefully better access).

Maybe a mini-PH trip could be arranged!

I'd be tempted to come back via Reims...

There's hopefully going to be a small Surrey contingent for pre-quals too. Karen and I are going, who else I don't know for definite yet, but it should be a blast. It would be nice if we can all stay in the same hotel and make a bit of an evening of it on Saturday. I'm going to get the GPS sorted out for the trip, so we can try a more interesting route down if you're game (and I'm welcome with the Mun-keh ).

We've not booked anything yet, but I think we'll be taking the Eurotunnel on Saturday morning (10ish), and returning on Monday afternoon.

Bugger.

It has been the bank holiday for the past 5 years (or how ever many years its been that I've missed it!).

Just found out that the Grandstands may be free too.
Got this from the official site.

Yes off course, the grand stands are open. You just need the Enceinte General which you can reuse in June.

Right, decision made. I've booked an 09:30 Sea France ferry crossing from Dover on the 24th, returning 19:30 on the 26th. Hopefully I can meet up with you guys in France, for the trip down/back or at the very least in the hotel bar in Le Mans. Has anyone got any recommendations on where to stay in Le Mans for Pre-Quals?

Steve.

I tried that, got a response something along the lines of:
