Reading through the threads has got me thinking about all the things we need to take - tent, clothes, sleeping bags, etc etc, the list seems to be getting longer and longer!(Not forgetting the toilet rolls) I've looked through the recommendations from the beer mountain guys and some other sites, and really don't know how it's all going to fit in the boot of the Chimaera (I know Steve and Karen Thomsit did a good job of it last year!)
So, I need to know the things which I really can't leave behind so that I can start thinking about prioritising (Sorry, obviously a girl thing, but i'm starting to write my list already...!)

shocking that you ask this question when you are taking a Chim! I took an S3 last year with the roof panels sideways in the boot and we had room to spare well, not quite to spare but...

This year I am taking the Chimaera and then after le mans continue through france and down to spain for 2 weeks. And thats with a woman to fit all her make up and stuff. A weekend should be a doddle with a chim.

what are you taking for gods sake!? A tent, some inflatable airbeds, 2 sleeping bags, a couple of tops & shorts. a few tools. loo roll. voila

last year we packed about an hour before the ferry was due to leave

Hi Rebel, you think you have problems! I have a Griff and the other half is coming along I dont think she will be very happy about taking 1/8th of what would normally be packed for 5 days

Presumeing your going 'solo' and don't have a back-up car to carry anything.....
Our usual kit consists of.....
tent
sleeping bags
air matress
pool
pump to blow up the above
his & hers clothes
cool bag for food on the way down and beer when your there
toilet roll (but you could just buy this from Carefour)
Enough supplies/cooking stuff to survive 1 night or until a Carefour run
Maps
Tickets
Money
Passport
waterproof pack to put the above in
Plastic box to put extra crap in and to double up as a car wash bucket when your there
Radio
Power lead (only really any use if your in Houx)

And all that 'should' fit in the boot of a Chimaera (as long as your tents not twinned with the Millenium Dome)

I am travelling with planetdave and by the time he gets his hairdyer and all his shoes in, I will only have behind my seat in the Griff to pack my stuff!

Two tents/Two sleeping bags/enough loo roll = Griff full.

You must have some sort of bowel problem if you need enough loo roll to fill a Griff

Lge 3 man ridge tent with living room
2 x camp beds
2 x folding chairs
clothes
sleeping bags
full size electric cool box
2 ring camp cooker with grill
Frying pan
Plates & cutlery
Mugs
Plastic glasses
Washing up bowl
Emergency toolkit/triangle/fire extinguisher/bulbs
Enough supplies/cooking stuff to survive 1 night or until a Carefour run
Maps
Tickets
Money
Passport
Radio
…plus a load of other rubbish

All that in a Griff but I have to keep the roof on and leave the spare behind; but then if I used the space saver I wouldn't have anywhere for the wheel I'd taken off to go so what's the point? Throw in a can of tyre weld and hope for the best.

At least your car has a spare wheel fitted

I will do the usual tent and credit card (for beer)

We manage to get everything we need in the Griffith with the roof off ...

Tip for camp beds.... forget the inflatable variety which get punctures, need pumping up and are generally a pain ...

Took those beds too, excellent and very comfy IMO.

The only things you reallyneed are;
- torch
- toilet roll
- tent
- sleeping bag
- chair
- more toilet roll

Everything else is luxury!

- cooking gear and small camp stove thats looks like a 1/4 hob is handy too unless you are planning to eat out (hotdogs, Arnage Village or McDonalds!)
