Always caught my attention these but never driven one. Available from Lexus with a 2 year warranty sub 60k miles for less than £19k now....got to be good value. I don't think i'd chance a sub £19k m3.

I'd love a pearl white one.

Regarding fuel economy,

I've seen 34mpg on a long run from Southampton to Birmingham, with light traffic cruising at 70-75mph.

My normal trips are slow town/urban stuff with 40mph limits being the fastest stretches, or going for a hoon. These usually yield about 20mpg.

It's certainly better than I was planning for!
Impressive. In my E92 I get 22mpg for commute (mostly urban) and then the best I've had is 30mpg on a drive at constant 60mph over 100 miles.

What's the gearing like in top in the M3?

ISF seems to be about 1700rpm in 8th at 70mph.

2800rpm in 6th on my manual. Don't know about the DCT's 7th.

Really? I'm sure 3000rpm is 100mph in 6th in the 335i auto. Unless I'm imagining it.

Your car produces Max power at 6000rpm, mine, 8000rpm. That'll be why it revs lower.

Indeed.

Just pootling about, the revs on mine never really rise above 1500. Probably why they're a bit more economical than the M3s. Obviously though, fuel economy is a bit of a moot point - everything is instantly forgotten with a 3rd gear pull through a nice long tunnel... woohoo

I'll be selling my ST come June, and have decided to scratch the V8 itch before the kids get old enough for bikes, multiple friends, football practice etc. I was 100% set on a Monaro, however after reading this thread, I'm not so sure.

The main driving force for me behind a V8 is the noise, question is, which provides the best noise? The Monaro, or ISF? I mean with aftermarket setups, OEM exhausts won't do.

Good question. This is what mine sounded like with an aftermarket exhaust and a valve

Still had a pair of silencers in so could be made louder without them.

This one just sounds dangerous

https://youtu.be/v7386tTtBgk

It's a conundrum i have, I want loud V8 noise, but I work a shift pattern that means some mornings I leave @ 5:30am, and sometimes I come home @ 4am (not on the same day, that would be madness). What's more important, a V8, or getting on with the neighbours, hmmmm.....

Well, after lots of research, put a deposit on one of these yesterday. Lexus main dealer, so 12 months warranty, plus the extended 2 years for £795. Ultra blue with white leather. 44500 miles, but because servicing is on an age basis, the big 6 year 60000 has already been done.
Seemed a bit of a no brainer, compared to a C63 or M3. Collect Wednesday, will let you know.....

Welcome to the club. I recently return to the fold. I’d strongly recommend that you get an aftermarket exhaust fitted as it makes the car more entertaining biggrin

Epic colour. £400 a year for full manufacturers warranty and that includes European breakdown cover. Boom!

The exhaust seems to be one of the few items not covered by the warranty, and fitting a replacement ( as long as it's not too outrageous ) should be ok. I'll ask when I pick it up. Looks like £500 should suffice.
Absolutely staggered at the insurance premium. I have a 2007 Prius( talk about chalk and cheese) and fully comp is £237.16. The IFS, £239.27!!!! Yep, £2.11 more. I did call them to double check. Good job I'm an old git. Roll on Wednesday...

Picked up today. What an epic monster! 35 miles home at legal limits, 28.6 mpg. That'll most probably be the best I'll get....
