Hi there I have got a question about leasing and credit history? I am 18 I would like to lease a car for personal use but also to do work mileage. Does anyone know how strict they are on leasing to young people? And whether they require some mad credit rating? Also if anyone knows of any 420d/1 series deals can you link them. PM if you don't want to clog the forum.
You don't have to have a stellar credit rating, and it varies by finance house.
But, depending on the car you want to lease you will be asking them to trust you with a potentially very expensive item. You'll probably need proof of income and other things if you don't have much of a credit history.
Manufacturer finance are probably more likely to be accepting of young drivers than others. See things like the Peugeot fuel and go deals, even include insurance.

This question came up at work the other day when we had the underwriters in to do a presentation. You'll need proof of earnings and a parent to act as a guarantee. As stated, insurance may prove to be the killer though.
Someone asked about private plates, yes it can be done, and yes the leasing company will charge an admin fee (not the broker)

Im 19 and applied for a lease a few weeks ago on an ibiza, i got approved no questions asked, i think in part because it's a smaller, cheaper car and also mainly to do with credit history, you may need a guarantor if you don't have enough credit history, and you may also have to show bank statements. Had the same experience since I ordered my Cupra in July as well. Been given updates by them as and when available. Happy with the service so far. Read on here that some were unhappy with the lack of updates from them but if there's nothing to update then CVL aren't going to send an email saying "no update yet". I guess some people want a daily update when they order a car with a 12-14 week wait.
Based on my experience so far I would definitely recommend them!
Other side of the coin here. Also ordered a Cupra from CVL and have had to chase to get paperwork and any form of update at all. Very little in the way of clarity in what the process was/is and outlining the next steps. I'm fortunate that I have had a previous lease so know roughly what to expect. If this was my first experience of leasing I'd be mightily frustrated.Based on my experience so far I would definitely recommend them!
Noone is demanding a daily update. If there is clarity in the process and what happens next then that puts the customer at ease to accept "when there's an update, we'll update".
Still, the cupra deal was excellent value.
My previous lease was through gateway2lease and they were excellent.
got a good quote from allcarleasing on an S3 (5 door tiptronic sportback)
3x23, 5000 miles pa with maintenance and tyre cover £343 inc vat .
Am paying £303 for a 5door dsg golf r with maintenance (ok, 10k miles and it was a 6x23) but get heated leather and nav as standard on the S3 so think i might just go for that...
99% sure its the best deal i am going to get.
lead time? 10-12 weeks...

I have my private plate on my lease car and I was not charged a fee. I had to pay the normal retention fee when I took it off my previous car then I had to name finance company as a nominee for plate and send relevant document to the dealership and my car arrived with the plate on.Someone asked about private plates, yes it can be done, and yes the leasing company will charge an admin fee (not the broker)

Thanks for the responses. Both my parents are ok with being guarantors luckily. I would quite like a BMW 1/2/4 series m sport or a Golf R but theres too many of them now. Don't really care about engine as most miles will be motorway so better MPG saves me money!
