M240i or S3 saloon

I've finally had enough of the Golf R supplier balls up and have cancelled my order as delivery may not be until next year (I ordered in May!).
I still need a car so have narrowed it down to the M240i or S3 saloon. It looks like the BMW will be the better drivers car and the Audi has a better interior but I haven't found a direct comparison review. Has anyone had the pleasure of sampling both? Would be keen to hear some real world feedback.

Funnily enough, I test drove the M235i on Tuesday night and an S3 Sportback tonight, as the Audi dealer didn't have a saloon as a demo. BMW dealer didn't have an M240i demo either.
The BMW was quick and sounded fantastic, and was very good around town as well as an automatic. However it did feel a bit small and on reflection too impractical. I was left thinking I should look at the M140i.
The S3 in comparison was a real surprise. Still small enough to be chuckable, but more space overall. Better quality interior design and materials. The quattro drivetrain made it feel very surefooted and it covers ground amazingly easily.
After having also tested a Focus RS last week, the S3 is my current favourite and unless I'm blown away by the Golf R or A 45 AMG is likely to be my next car.

I've driven the m235 and s3 hatch, yes the s3 is built with better quality materials, yes you can drive it like an idiot in all weathers but for me the m235i has the better engine, gearbox, seating position, makes the better noise and has the better steering.
The only other contender would be the seat cupra but that's because they are much cheaper cars.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have just found out that sepang blue is no longer available for the new S3. That is by far my favorite colour and would probably have tempted me from the BMW. Can't understand why it's been binned. Only the much darker navara and cosmo blues are an option.
