Do most private buyers simply go on price? Car not selling.

Not saying you should LIE in your posting, but if i was looking for this car, then this would instantly make me just look to the next one:
" Only real downside is the air con not working so guessing wants re-gassing and at slow speeds there is a knocking from the front end when go over bumps. This has been to the garage to be checked out and was assured it wasn't anything serious and sounds like ball joint or some thing so should be a cheap fix. Only reason not had it done is due to new car and mazda no longer being used. "
You'd probably have better luck if you just told all of this to someone face to face after they have already come to see you, and you knock some money off the price for them there and then. But the chances of me leaving my house to go and look at a car i am already aware has a 'downside' is kinda zero to nothing

Chap who drove my car yesterday wants to buy it.
Said he will pay via bank transfer or cash. I'm thinking cash in hand would be best.
I've just emailed him back to confirm price as he has just said he will buy it.
Said he can send over a deposit if required. He wants to pick it up tomorrow, so the full amount in cash will be fine. I don't need to mess around with a deposit.
Lucky sod, he has half a tank of petrol (put some in this morning) and I gave the car another good clean this afternoon.

I have arranged for him to come at 10:30am, so if he is going to mess me about, I'll know by lunchtime what is happening.
We negotiated £1950 in the end. I'm happy with that as I wanted as close to £2k as possible for it. He is supposed to be coming over with his wife. We are going into town to do the necessary paperwork bits etc.
I know you can never really tell what someone is like, but he seems like a nice chap who just needs a decent car by the weekend. We'll see tomorrow.

There is one an a forecourt about 15 miles away from me. Up at £3800 odd.
Also, there are a few dotted around AT etc at the £3k mark.

Got a signed receipt with date and time (one copy each), gave him the green slip off the V5 and just registered the change of keeper online with the DVLA. Just about to freeze my insurance too. I think that covers everything.

To be fair, I only had a few funny enquiries.
One chap was obsessed with the bodywork, but didn't want to see it for himself. One told me to take his £1700 offer. When I said no, he said he was in london, so think about it.
Then I had the angry trader last night. A right bunch. However, at least I only had to do one test drive and that person bought it.
Just stick with it and if you want it gone, price it accordingly.
I was told by mazda dealer last November that I could only expect £1800 for my car. A year and 10,000 miles later, I've sold it for more.
I found out the other day that dealers won't even give you a trade in price now, until you are ready to buy something else.
