It's not for me. And taking another look it's not a good deal. She only does 5-6k p.a and wants a 4WD, ideally a tiguan or X3 type car but must be all wheel drive. She got rinsed on her last new BMW 3 series so i simply suggested a lease.
S4 is similar money, yes it will cost more to run but is a lot nicer car (IMO).

Financially speaking yes, but if the car isnt what you want without the options then that has to be factored in. The £350 on options I put on my S5 doesn't make it a bad deal. If I had put £3k of options on then that's just silly! OTOH you don't get much return on options however you acquire them really.

it won't cost much more to run if it's just being used for short journeys, but it sounds like she isn't arsed about performance anyway. I'd be recommending a Tiguan as they are loads cheaper?

Did you go for black one or opted to pay for different colour?
I went for black in the end, didn't think it was worth the extra £15 a month.

I was a bit worried it would be a flat black but it's actually metallic and got a nice deep shine to it.

I would agree, but then you see some who add on the £££'s with the 'nice to have' stuff. Lots of this fluff adds nil to residual value hence you pay for the entire option of the term of the lease. £3k (which is easily done) is £125 per month over a 2 year lease. For what, a better stereo, paint, sunroof and bigger wheels? If you are going to spec a car, you really need to own it, not rent it.

If I could choose any of the variations I would take an S4 Avant easily.
Over the S5 too or just between the S4s?
Over the S5. Just something about those Avants that I really like and the front end is much prettier. Very happy with the S5 coupe though have to say

Come back after some time and let us know how it goes. I looked at that model a few months ago and was surprised how well it's equipped and I can live with interior and exterior looks. Saw a black one on M25 a few days ago.

It ticks the box of cheap and practical. And from what I remember it has decent size fuel tank.

A friend is looking at a BMW 335D X drive. Total £9,395/24 months on 5k p.a. seems reasonable to me. Although you can achieve a hefty discount, net £33K. RRP £41k
Tell him to drive one first not many people know these come with bog standard 3 series suspension not M Sport suspension and it makes for a strange drive. Take a look at gap between the tyre and top of the arch when you see one, even with 19" rims its a big gap. I test drove one and when you floored it the front comes up like a speed boat and it rolled and pitched noticeably in the corners. The salesman didnt believe me so checked with the BMW 'Genius' back at the dealership who confirmed its non M Sport suspension. Doesnt sit quite right that the top diesel model has suspension from a 318. I then went out in a 330d M Sport and it was so much better.

Yeah, that's it. I just went for flat bottomed wheel and VC on the S5 and I am glad I did both. I had a B8 S4 and disliked the fact it didn't have the nicer wheel.

I wouldn't be able to do with the impracticality of the coupe I don't think, and don't like saloon boots. The S4s are nice, I had a B8 S4 Avant, so the S5 is a nice change and for the price gap would be more than tempting.

Try a guy at Central Vehicle Leasing called Marcus, really helpful or Gateway 2 lease which seem to price match at times

roflroflrofl I doubt I'll ever understand why steering wheels that aren't round are 'nicer' and I currently have two cars that just happen to come with 'non-round' steering wheels as standard, completely pointless.

The MY18 changes on the S4 include a flat bottom steering wheel, I'm very glad they haven't done the same for the MY18 S5 I have ordered.

I wonder if there's a business opportunity that's been missed, flat bottomed alloys, it's the future.

They generally make it easier for me, being a tall guy, getting in and out of cars.

I personally just prefer the look of them, I'm 6ft2 and I have never really felt it facilitates easier access to the drivers seat. Not sure how tall you have to be for it to be a benefit.

Wow, I didn't think it could be thought of as that funny.....

If you don't see the point in a flat bottomed wheel, I'm sure you're really happy about getting Audi Beam then on the S5?

As for the wheel, a lot of it depends on how you define "pointless". The main reason for it in my opinion is aesthetic purposes, which then calls into question the idea of different coloured seats, different wheels, different colours of paint on the car and paying to have the brakes painted red (which I think is a rip off at £375 or whatever it is). So if you think that there should be no individualism about one's car then yes I can see why in your eyes it is pointless.
