Go for it then! I wouldn't go through credit searches and get finance approved until I knew there was a deal that I wanted to go for. Underwriting doesn't take long in 99% of cases, most are turned around in under half a day unless they want confirmation of something or proofs of earnings/address.

I was given the same advice and did the same thing via a main VW dealer. It's either going to be start of July or start of October apparently.

We'll find out in a fortnight...

I had a test drive in Golf R and left my details with fleet dept. in Crawley. Saleswoman told me she has a list of people interested and can let me know if deal goes live. I'm sure there will be a buzz in here if there's a bargain to be had.

Based on the picture, it's the old model! (which did have a Black Edition later in its life)

Well, it looks like an old model (which did have a black edition) since the gearbox isn't S tronic in the new one either.

Its either an out of date listing or one where they haven't put in the correct description.

A deal v similar to this was posted last week IIRC, and it was deemed good then but it disappeared!

Out of interest where have you found that? I need a replacement for my Golf R Estate!
Ring Seat in Warrington and speak to Phil Hodges for a deal on these, I wouldn't be surprised if it's even cheaper than that.

Was looking at this as a second car, seems like a good deal to me but has anyone seen anything similar?

Do you think the manufacturers will be supporting some good deals at the start of Q2 or just much of the same.

I know the VW Golf deals will be around. Dealer suggested 300 countrywide to me the other week
I've seen a few comments that car showrooms are absolutely dead at the moment so that bodes well for deals, especially if there are cars kicking around that are soon to become old models as 2018 upgrades start to come through.

Seat Leon looks ok. Question though over availability of the 1.4 petrol across the VAG range as the local seat dealer quoted around 22 weeks the other day with nothing in the system.

Long time lurker, first time thread poster here......

We are just over 3 years into our first personal lease (Mini Cooper D, 6 x 47 (£200.50p/month) maintained and starting to have a look for a replacement for the Mrs for when the lease finally expires.

We're after something similar or perhaps a Golf (liked to looks of the VW deal via Whatcar as posted above) but obviously it's a bit early to be doing much and plenty can change but I have a couple of questions please:

People seem to be going for 24/36 month leases in the main, any particular reason why nobody really seems to go for the 48 month option?

Is maintenance worth going for generally speaking?

Are there any particular times that deals seem to be more widely available? Posters referring to end of quarters, any particular one? Limited for my needs admittedly but worth knowing.

Thanks

The monthlies on 24 month leases can sometimes be similar, or even cheaper, than those on 36 month leases on the same vehicle. Its nicer to be able to upgrade every 2 as opposed to 3 years if the cost is similar.

Most people avoid 4 year deals because they dread the thought of leasing outside warranty and having to spend money repairing a car only to hand it back soon after.

Also its typically hard/attracts penalties to get out of a lease and 4 years is a long time to commit to the same vehicle & mileage if they do change (eg my office has moved twice in 4 years and I can walk to work so would be paying for miles I'd not be using on a 4 year lease).

Something similar....

Mini Cooper S
9+35 @ £199.90 = £8,795.60
8k miles
No admin fee I think

Anyone know if you can get a pushchair in a Mini? I'm guessing not.

Also, unless you do a high mileage, on a two year lease, you'll probably only have to pay for the first, usually cheap service, a longer lease will probably mean you have to pay for the second service too, this one is often more expensive too. You'll need to pay for at least one MOT too. And you'll often get away without buying any tyres on a two year lease.
