A few people asked for me to post about the process of my stolen S5 in terms of dealing with the insurance and VWFS. Well Audi issued LV Insurance with a settlement figure and LV have paid the amount requested. My LV policy did have a clause that would replace the car within the first 12 months but given its a lease they cant do that. This might be why however they settled the amount requested with no push back.
From now two outcomes are possible - either my agreement with Audi is terminated and I start again with a new lease (have a Cupra 300 or Golf GTI lined up) OR Audi put me in another S5 and I continue for the remaining 18 months at my current payment.
Audi want the latter - or at least thats what they are telling me - which makes sense as they now have the full value of the vehicle back and can put me in another S5 and continue to collect my payments. Every Monday a stock list is refreshed of the cars within Audi UK and they will use this list to find a coupe in blue with as close to the options and spec I had as possible.
If this turns out to be not possible then my agreement simply ends. There is nothing more to pay - the insurance have effectively covered everything.
All this has been sorted within two weeks of the car being stolen.

Hmm so in theory Gap insurance would not have been necessary at all? Is it a con?

Has anyone seen any decent spec deals on either the Tiguan (SE Nav or higher) or Ateca (fr)?

My wife's focus is due back to Arnold Clark end of September and was after a 4x4 (what she'd call a 4x4 anyway lol) but after getting a quote from the Seat dealer a few pages back on the Leon Cupra estate Im trying to get her into that now . . .

284pcm 1+23, 10k miles pa.
No options, base colour but I think they're well spec'd out the box

Cheers

It's what would happen with the initial payment in the event that the lease is terminated that's key. If you've got a 1+23 lease, and the car is stolen, and the lease is terminated, then you're not out of pocket by much. But if you've put down £3000 and the car is nicked a week into the agreement, then you'll not want to write off that initial payment.

Thanks for this. I'm going with LV for my S4 so this is good to know! Also sucks that you've lost your car. Would you not consider a new S5 lease at all?

Also how was the car stolen if you don't mind? I was always told it's almost impossible to steal modern cars without the keys.

You can structure GAP a few different ways - cover just gap for the insurance claim and also cover your initial deposit - I just did the former so I would lose the 3 grand deposit. Stings a bit. Hence I hope Audi can get me in another car but at this point I would side with the agreement simply terminating.
This is why I am holding a SEAT Leon 300 lease as it was only 720 down.
I would still take gap in the future and make sure i cover the deposit aspect as well.
Oh well you live and learn!

Whoever told you that was talking nonsense I'm afraid. Keyless entry and the EU are to blame. Have a read if you're interested, but I warn you, it may make you paranoid.

Another one here who went for the Cupra 300 hatch deal from IMG Warrington. I was considering adding Seat sound and winter pack (another £26.25pm) but decided to just go for a standard car in the mystery blue, it's on the 1+23 profile (£249) which is cheaper than the 3+23 (£240) for 8kpa so even better. I went to a local dealers for a look in the flesh and was impressed enough to order with IMG today as local dealers could not get near, they were coming in at around £251+ vat, guy i spoke to from Glasgow dealership was convinced it was a mistake and said if it wasn't then to just order with them so i duly obliged. My S3 sportback DSG is due back in Jan but i will need to send it back a bit early, Cupra should be ready to pickup in October but they will hold on to it until i pick it up in November ideally as it keeps VT payment down (no saving on servicing as maintenance is included). Will miss the DSG but the price was too good to miss this deal as i've had serious car envy recently and have been twiddling my thumbs watching a few good deals come and go as they have just been to soon for me. biggrin

I'm looking for a great EV deal, for a short station commute - only need 5k/yr.
Haven't found one yet (please shout if you have)

It looks like CVL have a coupleof decent offers on Golf GTE PHEV's though:

GTE Advance £2k +180/m all ex vat, 5k miles, 24m
https://www.centralukvehicleleasing.co.uk/vehicle/...

GTE £2k+150/m all ex vat, 5k, 24m
https://www.centralukvehicleleasing.co.uk/vehicle/...

It's a nice looking car, but niche interest I suspect. 8k miles only £10/m more.

I've gone for the deal as well, gave them card details to take a deposit and filled out the proposal form. Am told that a car has been ordered for me for late Sept/early Oct delivery..... However I have no receipt and no funds appear to have been taken. Slightly nervous about the deal given this, until I have something confirmed in writing, considering how good a price it is, and what you've been told by the Glasgow dealership!

I've been following S3 prices for a little while on behalf of a friend who's after one. These prices are the best I've seen recently, but in terms of absolute value for money, the recent Cupra/Golf R estate deals are better

I must have asked the guy i dealt with (Adam) at least 3 times if the price was inclusive of vat and he kept saying yes, i also gave card details and done my proposal over the phone and have an e-mail saying finance is in place and my car is ordered (have order no: as well) so all sounds good, will see how things go over the next few weeks. smile

In case anyone wants/needs in stock car, I saw some decent Audi A6 Allroad offers.

Base model with 272bhp engine
https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/independent...

And Sport model with 272bhp engine
https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/independent...

Both come at 23% of discounted price of £36K and £39K.
Don't know details about colour combo or options as company was already out of hours when I spoted it.

There's also decent A8 3.0tdi Black Edition in stock at Eastbourne. It's black on black, no extra options. As someone stated, customer service is not the best. Car went down in price in last couple of weeks I've been watching it, so they must be desperate to shift it.
https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/main-dealer... Total for 2 years £13,823.68, RRP £71,275, discounted £49,660.

Tip: if they want you to pay top whack for an optional colour, don't, haggle with them and it will cost you very little extra.
Don't panic as many here seem to do, if you miss a deal there will be another one round the corner.
