True. I was hoping somebody on here could shed some light on to what the refurb fee from VW covers. I dont want to be left with a charge for a new wheel as i have spoken to a few who could refurb it
Is that for a diamond cut refurb? They're considerably more expensive than standard alloys to refurb. It's also worth noting that if the refurb has not been done to standard they can reject it and charge you the full amount for a new wheel. This is an extreme but is a possibility if the refurb isn't to a great standard.

Sorry can't comment on VW but I had a diamond cut alloy repaired on my SLK lease a few years ago, the repair was pretty decent but not invisible. It was then deemed a substandard repair and they charged £65 for a full refurb. In fairness I did the repair about 6 months into the lease and after the 2 years there was a little corrosion appearing on the wheels around the repair which drew attention to the damage.

So I would say unless you are confident the repair will be 100% perfect then I would leave it from my experience.

Diamond cut refurb is going to be considerably north of £100, I had the wheel specialist do one, I think it was about £170. I'm not sure looking at that deep gouge that a refurb is going to be possible tbh but I'm no expert.

Should add that I would like to know where Mercedes get their full diamond cut wheel repairs done for £65 laugh

They also waived the charge as the total amount came under (I think) £100. The rest of the car was immaculate though inside and out which probably helped. It sat on the drive unused for about half of the lease

So does anybody know the extent of what the VW £36 alloy refurb cost actually covers?

As in what gets done for £36?

Nothing at all.

They'll take the money and chuck the car in to auction and let the dealer that buys it deal with it.

I've recently handed back the Qashqai I had on two year lease from Hitachi Finance. It had above average damage including two alloys scratched, some bozo who scraped the body coloured bumper when parking against me, and a three-panel scratch down to the primer.

Mannheim inspected, priced up, including fairly marking some as £0 wear and tear, and yeah, I think I did the right thing. It would have been hard to find alloy wheels repaired at the same price, let alone the paint respray needed.

Remember a key thing - if you value how you spend your time, a strong reason not to repair yourself is that you don't have to spend your precious time getting quotes and then booking in with <some guy down the arches> leaving you car-less for a half a day or more. And then fretting when he hasn't done it to your satisfaction (etc) and then cleaning it again, and then someone scratches it again in tesco...

How much did you pay in charges in total for this?

Any decent deals around on the Nissan Leaf?
In my experience PCP has always been the cheapest deal for the Leaf. If you go for an ex demo or used model then it will include servicing too. For example:

https://speakev.com/threads/nissan-leaf-acenta-124...

£148 per month amortised over three years.

New model due to be launched in six weeks so I'd have thought there would be better deals around on the 30kw version but can't seem to find anything great advertised.

(I wouldn't usually pollute the lease car thread with a PCP deal, but I've had two Leafs now and always found PCP deals cheaper than lease costs. Complete opposite for my current electric B Class though).

VW leasing.

BCA agree to buy the car from VW for x amount.....so its in their interest to pick up on faults on your car, as they then get any money paid for faults. None of these faults are remedied, as it gets chucked into auction (usually closed dealer auction) Some of the examiners try it on and mark down any mark and scrape on the car, even if within bca guidelines and leave it to you to appeal it with vwfs.

The golf r's cheap leases were prime example...where bca insist on 2 inspections...one on pickup and one a few days earlier. (You werent allowed to hand car back on first inspection)

Note, this is what my bca inspector told me.

Thought I'd add a deal.

A year ago I got an Audi A4 1.4 (150ps) sport on 1x £956 followed by 23x £156 over 24 months on 10,000 miles PA.

15.4% of RRP - feels like they are paying me to drive it.

We've just gone ahead with this for our second car

Jaguar XE 2.0 (200ps) Prestige ignenium auto on 1x £1566 followed by 23x £174.

18.8% of RRP

In my opinion the A4 deal will likely to not ever be beaten having watched prices for the last year. I'm not sure why the huge discounts haven't happened, maybe leasing is catching on.

However when the Jag deal popped up my faith was restored!!!

Just need a 3 series and we will have the compact executive set... maybe not

As mentioned above, BCA do not buy the car, they are paid by VWFS to inspect, collect and often dispose of the car.

The initial inspection is by a qualified BCA inspector who will give you the recharges for any rectification work. I believe you can choose to then complete any works but often the recharge figures are so low it's not really worth it. You also then need to prove to The end of contracts team the work has been done properly.

The second inspection will be the collecting driver within a coupe of days of the initial inspection. As they are liable for the car the driver needs to cover themselves however this inspection does not matter unless the car has gained some serious damages since the initial inspection.

The car is then taken to be either distributed via the VW network or sold via auction (where BCA Charge the seller an entry fee and the buyer sale charges).

How far have you got, have you done the initial bit over the phone, credit check and passed bank details ?

Are you not sure it's guaranteed until we get paperwork or written confirmation?

You've got me worried now, I thought it was a done deal given it's from a main dealer ?
