My xc90 was delivered in may this year direct from a main dealer and the finance is through lex. No problems with emissions for me so far though.
Thanks. Do you mind telling me what your lease details are (upfront, monthlies, term, mileage). Cheers

Really tempted by that alfa, though my audi lease deal doesnt end til march.
Have emailed them to see whats what.... also going to check whatcar and see if any better deals about.
I'm in the same boat, according to Unity Alfa the lead time is 12 weeks for a factory order and it has to be picked up the month it arrives, which when you see how bad Alfa sales this year makes sense. VWFS will charge me 55% of my remaining rentals for A4 which is due back in March so looking at a £300 penalty.Have emailed them to see whats what.... also going to check whatcar and see if any better deals about.
To add, I ordered a Cupra 2 weeks ago which is cheaper, more practical; marginally more powerful; wont need serviced; better equipped (android auto, ACC, metallic, adaptive dampers) and will arrive later. By my reckoning the Alfa is going to be £2K over the 2 years all things considered.
For all intents and purposes it makes more sense to stay with the Cupra - but then my heart says Alfa.

Ohh 55% is all they will charge for returning it a bit early??? Thats not bad at all - ive really loved the A4, but wouldnt mind something Alfa shaped.3 months would mean potentially Dec/Jan delivery and for the money it seems like a lot of car.

I was for ordering the cupra too for the performance aspect, but the alfa looks like a much nicer place to be from inside. Speced it for the nice blue, largest wheels and audio pack. Brings the price up to 357, but its a lot of car for the money. with these specs its £39,850

doesn't look best deal tbh only one i could see
Spoke to CHL re the Alfa.
Car must be taken when here, that could be 2 weeks (if one that is coming suits whoever is ordering it) or between 8-12 weeks for a factory order.
All options from website just /26 to get monthly price.
Going to see one in the flesh tomorrow and then put order through i think.

Is it worth getting an 18 month lease deal ?
What do people think of the value of an 18 month deal?
Also what purpose does the calculation serve when you divide the total cost of the lease by the cash price of the car?
Sorry for the questions, new to this forum
Thanks.
People on this forum are generally very helpful, but if it's a busy day your question might get "lost" amongst the comments. What do people think of the value of an 18 month deal?

I personally had a 18month lease on a Peugeot 208 GTI last year, it worked out brilliantly for me as it only cost £168 deposit and £168 per month (1+17) I didn't have to pay for the second service and managed to return the car with the original tyres so didn't have to fork out for that ether. Now that deal was exceptionally rare and I've not seen one as good since. The only thing that would put me off another 18 month lease is if there was actually a large deposit and I would have to factor that into the price over the term and work out if the average monthly fee is within my budget.
In regards to the calculation that some of us do with considering a lease, we take the price how much it would cost to "buy" that brand new car after discount from company's such as drive the deal and carwow. We then use auto trader to work out how much this car would be worth in 2-3 years time ( depending on how long you personally like to keep a car ) and this gives us a accurate depreciation figure. If a lease cost for the same car over the same period works works out cheaper then a lease is the better choice than buying that car ( amongst other reasons such as not having to find £££££ or sometimes crappy PCP APR rates )
A easy way to look at it is if you can only pay 20% - 25% of a cars discounted RRP value say over 2 years on a lease that's Generally classed as a very good deal. E.g a car is with 20k after discount RRP, the lease for that car is £4K over 2 years then this would be 20 % of the value of the car and me personally see it as a very good deal as the depreciation would be much more.

The worth is down to the person, for some 18 months is not long enough, for others its perfect. Choose a term that fits your circumstances best. What do people think of the value of an 18 month deal?

That calculation is used to see if a deal represents 'good value', anything 25% and under is seen as 'good'. The general rule of thumb is to base on 24 months 10k per annum, Your deal is over 18 months, so in your instance just add the extra 6 months of payment on top so its a direct comparable?
People do answer most questions on here, although if a question has been answered previously, or is more down to personal preference, you may not get as many people coming back to you. The longer you hang around on here the more you will learn

Generally speaking, it pays to think in terms of total amount or amortised amount when comparing deals. Total amount being all the monthly payments added to the initial deposit plus any doc fees. Multiply it all by 1.2 if VAT needs to be added. That's the total. Divide it by the term of the agreement to get your monthly cost in real terms.
Ignoring the figures though, 18 months seems quite short to me but it might mean you don't need to service the car during the term.
Gad, the deal I'm looking at is;
Mercedes E300 Coupe with 20 inch wheels added on
Deposit - £2898 inc vat
Monthly - £322 inc vat
Mileage - 8k
Term - 18 months
Doc fee - £360 inc vat
Vehicle holding deposit - £250 inc vat
And this is with Applied Leasing guys so if anyone is interested, check it out
See, it's good to talk

Works out at £499 per month in real terms. Sounds expensive to me on the face of it.
Equivalent 24 month deal would be £12k which I guess represent about 33% of the 'cash' price and only 8k miles per year. No idea what alternatives there are but looks a bit steep to me.
Orginal offer was:
E300 AMG Line 2dr 9G-Tronic
18 month lease
8k miles
deposit £2,600
monthly £298 per month
So the wheels are adding extra 900 per term. Without 20 inch wheels, it's £445 pcm = £10,701 total for 2 years, which is not bad for the coupe and engine.
I wouldn't mind 18 months deal, I like to change cars.
