M240i any good? http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=80&am...

Still waiting for Q4 hot hatch deals!

Have cast my net quite wide looking for either an M140i, Golf GTi or Golf R depending on budget and would even settle for a 120d but can't seem to find anything at reasonable prices yet.
Sadly not. Needs to be 5dr for the small person I've got coming in March. Apparently can't be too "boy racer-y" according to my future wife, and a Focus ST (and therefore an RS) has been ruled out. Still tempted by that IMG Leon Cupra deal, but I don't think I can take the chance on what appear to be really long waiting times.

Heart says M140i or Golf R, head says 120d. Wife says cheapest brand new Golf available with leather. Not sure who's going to win.

Check the other post on babybmw. He has a similar deal for the M140i

Leather on a leased Golf will be expensive as it's something like an £1800 option. Leather isn't standard on any Golf model. Adds a lot to your monthly payment to pay that off over 2 years.

The Mrs will win.

Either she gets what she wants. Or she gets to complain for ever more about your choice and you should have got what she said.

Oh and if you get the golf with leather and it turns out to be a big mistake. Still your fault, because what did she know she was pregnant. What we’re thinking listening to her!

It is startling, isn’t it. Once spooled up, the thing pulls OK. If you get caught out at low revs (even just pulling away in first you have to rev it pretty high to stay in the power band in 2nd in my wife’s Ateca) you are an accident waiting to happen. I’ve had a few turbo cars over the years including some with supposedly epic turbo lag (eg early 944 Turbo) but this engine is something else.

That A4 1.4T S-Line deal is tempting... £5,350 with fee. Wonder if dealers would match.
I'd advise a test drive, can't wait for mine to go back. The turbo lag is absolutely lethal

Hi All - can someone explain how options work to me? - I thought on a lease car, any options you simply pay for in full, divided by the term length.

On the S4 with NVS, I received a quote for adding metallic paint and Virtual Cockpit (£895 of options) - yet their quote went up by £1682.91 !

Have I misunderstood how it works, or are they pulling a fast one?

It’s standard on the S3, maybe worth looking there?

Looks wrong. Ask NVS to explain

Either pay upfront or they are divided over the term and added to your monthly repayments. Should never cost more than the actual options. I'd love to spec nardo grey but can't justify £2400, that could be another lease in its own right!

The new 2018 S4 Saloon with Carbon Pack (spoiler, etc.) in black looks fantastic.

First S4 Saloon I've seen that looks good. Doubt that's a genuine Audi carbon pack though.

Thanks - but Tony only does PCP, not leasing.

Baby coming in March and I'm paranoid about staining the seats on a lease car - I figure leather will just wipe clean!

Couldn't agree more with this. I've never looked forward so much to giving a car back before. It's not a bad car for someone who just wants a cheap deal, as they are a complete steal for what they were/are being offered at. That engine does not belong in such a big body shape though, at all, IMO.

I wouldn't worry, we've had two children whilst having Golf's with cloth seats and they are very resilient to stains and marks. Child one suffers from terrible car sickness too! yuck
