At least you can hand yours back. I bought the bloody Ateca!

Fortunately the Mrs likes it and isn't shy of using a few revs so it doesn't bother her.

That A4 1.4T S-Line deal is tempting... £5,350 with fee. Wonder if dealers would match.
I'd advise a test drive, can't wait for mine to go back. The turbo lag is absolutely lethal
Couldn't agree more with this. I've never looked forward so much to giving a car back before. It's not a bad car for someone who just wants a cheap deal, as they are a complete steal for what they were/are being offered at. That engine does not belong in such a big body shape though, at all, IMO.

Have to agree with the turbo lag / flat spot on the A4 1.4. Most noticeable when taking a low speed turn , you go to accelerate and nothing for a few seconds, the car behind is on your bumper by the time it spools up.

I'd strongly advise anyone thinking of getting one to take a decent test drive beforehand.

Never had a problem with mine.

Once in a while I think 'wish it had more power' but I was leased to the the dog work and leave the boxster/M2 for spirited driving.

Me too. I test drove it and I strongly advise better use of the gear stick if turbo lag is an issue. I could happily live with that engine in this car, it's pretty light.

Sent an enquiry for the 1+23 A4 SE, wasn't even considering getting something different (let alone a lease) until mid-2018 but the 1 month initial thrusts it right into affordable territory...
Am I missing something obvious - can't spot a link to a 1+23 A4 deal? In my defence it's been a long week, could someone pop a link up again?

Sadly not. Needs to be 5dr for the small person I've got coming in March. Apparently can't be too "boy racer-y" according to my future wife, and a Focus ST (and therefore an RS) has been ruled out. Still tempted by that IMG Leon Cupra deal, but I don't think I can take the chance on what appear to be really long waiting times.

Heart says M140i or Golf R, head says 120d. Wife says cheapest brand new Golf available with leather. Not sure who's going to win.
The Mrs will win.

Either she gets what she wants. Or she gets to complain for ever more about your choice and you should have got what she said.

Oh and if you get the golf with leather and it turns out to be a big mistake. Still your fault, because what did she know she was pregnant. What we’re you thinking listening to her!

Thanks, I think pantheon work out slightly cheaper: 3+23 @ £455.99 incl for 10k.

Just got a reply back from them and unfortunately 10k is minimum at the moment. Also states "Road Tax for the first year" which if true, second year tax would bump the cost considerably.

Again states Pre-Reg but with delivery miles. So guess as suggested by others before dealer has pre-reg'd to meet targets and has to hold onto them for 3 months.

I always presumed that most lease deals were "cheap" as a result of manufacturer support. These pre-reg's wouldn't qualify for manufacturer support so I guess its the dealer subsidising them directly (offset by their bonus for meeting targets I guess)?

Local VW dealer has agreed to match the Arteon deal (£2400 + £185/month for 5k/year), albeit with a higher deposit and direct kick back to cover the difference. Has anyone managed to better this?

Parents have passed soft credit check and will likely be signing up for this over the weekend if nothing better pops along. Pondering wether to pay for alternative colour, which seems steep (as its completely written off over term) against the base cost for the car, but I guess thats always the case with these cheap deals.

The best deal I have found is £2000.01 deposit and 23 monthly payments of £197.40 for the Arteon 2.0 R Line based on 8000 miles in Urano Grey. This is with a VW dealer and they offered zero admin fee and free delivery.

Can you say who that was with?

Would rather deal with local dealer for the sake of £115, but its for 8k miles so wondering if the difference might be larger for 5k miles.

That made me laugh - with leather you get twice the nagging too : too cold in winter / too hot in summer !! You could have told me about it ! Your fault.

All fun and games!

The kid will be in a car seat anyway. And at the rate regs/recommendations are going, they'll be 21 by the time its safe for them not to be in a car seat :/

Having said all that, with a little pukey pukerson of my own, I am glad we have leather (even cream/white leather). Despite having a tiny tummy, when she wants rid of its contents she manages to cover herself, the car seat and the actual back seat frown Mum loses the plot and starts screaming that I should stop the car (in the outside lane of the motorway). This sets the little one of crying if she wasn't already from being covered in puke. The added time bomb of puke sitting on cloth seats would probably push me over the edge!

Firstly, a quick thanks to all who contribute to this thread. So much useful info here.

I have a friend looking for a 218i (or very similar). Current lease runs out next week (yes, she's left it too late!) so needs help finding something in stock ASAP. 8k miles, 2 year personal, bigger deposit not a problem if the overall cost is low.

I found this which seems like a good deal (and is £50/month better than the local BMW dealer can do).

https://centralukvehicleleasing.co.uk/lease-bmw-2-...

Does anyone know of anything better?

Thanks.

EDIT: If I've done my sums, that's 25.9% over 2 years, £6,830 or £284/month all-in,

We use plastic seat covers. Goes under child seat. This kind of thing: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CNAICTU?psc=1

Why not just extend her current lease by up to three months whilst seeking a new car?

Baby coming in March and I'm paranoid about staining the seats on a lease car - I figure leather will just wipe clean!
I was still driving a VW Golf GT with full leather when my missus was pregnant 2 years ago. Labour day came and on the way to the hospital, her water broke in my car. Let's just say I was well pleased to have leather seats... smile

Anyways, I've been running a Golf GTD with the tartan fabric and despite the baby pukes when my wee boy was a baby and all the dirty shoes and bits of biscuits etc in the car, it still looks spotless so I couldn't say leather is an absolute must with kids.

Edit: Oh and congrats mate! Good (and hard) times ahead!

Didn't think of that. That might be a good option if allowed. Thanks!
