Anyone get an XF deal confirmed?
Deal posted was with select I think, but did anyone manage any different terms (1+23 would be nice for example) or without fees?
Any idea on there lead time? Alltrack doesn’t go back to June is my only problem
Headline rate on a 1+23 - 5k p/a - £292.61 Inc Vat for the Prestige Model.

Nope, never owned a diesel- But had lots of na petrol linear sweetness. I just don't like the way it has absolutely nothing under 1700rpm then dumps a load of power once the turbo spools. I park in a multi storey every day, for instance, and it is utterly woeful (particularly when fully laden) at pulling itself up the ramps at low speed in first gear.

Perhaps those who think it's great haven't driven many na petrol or drive much in a low speed city environment?

Either way I suggest to test drive before you commit to 2 years. You may like it or able to drive round its foibles, but brilliant it is not.
Just sounds like most small turboed petrols TBH! And you will struggle to find a new car like an A4 with a NA petrol nowadays.

Absolute nonsense. It's not the most powerful engine but it's perfectly adequate for an a4. I find it actually quite sprightly. Yes if you let the revs drop down to tickover levels in 2nd or above it struggles. But that's what revs are for.

I'd suggest most people commentating haven't actually driven one.
I've got one and i'd agree with what he said tbh. I'd say it's adequate, at best. Definitely not perfectly so. With that being said, you can only expect so much for an entry-level engine in a a car like this

What i will say is that it's probably better than you might expect a 1.4 turbo to peform in such a big, heavy car. For what i'm paying for it, it's also an absolute steal but i would not have another one.

The 1.4t engine in the A4 is brilliant. You need to rev it. I wonder if those being negative have developed bad habits from driving diesels for too long.
Disagree. I've never had a diesel btw. The turbo lag is the issue. There is no fun revving the thing, it takes ages to spool up and even when it does, it tails off just like a diesel anyway. There's also not much of boost surge when it does start to pick up.

Again though, this is the smallest engine available; so it'd be silly to be expecting too much. I just think a diesel would suit this car much better, as it would at lest have that instant pick-up-and-go feel. That's also coming from someone who doesn't really like diesels

My thoughts
Entry models don’t sell, so big discounts which lower lease payments
High end models have good residuals as popular cars, hence lowering then monthlies
Agree with that. It's same on our company backed salary sacrifice scheme. Sometimes works out cheaper to get a top trim spec model than a middle of the range spec.

As an aside, anyone else been watching the recent Top gear YouTube videos on the new VW Up Gti and praying that we see a bargain lease deal for them in the future?

Probably won't happen as imagine demand will be pretty high anyway but one can dream....

I’ve had a Mini Cooper s (original bmw supercharged model), Nissan 350z, Mazda MX5, 3 Ford Focus models 1.8, 1.6 and 1.6tdci, Nissan qashqai 1.5dci, Astra 2.0 CDTI, Audi TT 3.2, jaguar XE 2.0t 200ps.

There’s more, however you get the jist. I have had some woefully slow cars to some fairly fast cars.

No offense meant about the diesel comment. I know what you mean about the dead zone. I find it’s going initially into second gear so tend to over rev first gear and try and do a sustained gear change from one to two.

I still think it’s a great engine and it feels nippy. It needs to be driven hard to get the most out of it. Reminds me of the old MX5 in that respect.

I would happily get a new one in May when the lease ends. I think people shouldn’t discount it on paper without driving it

Test drove a Tiguan at the weekend, but quote from local Inchcape VW was a mile off what I've found online for 6+35 or 9+35 (10k miles, 2.0TDI DSG SEL).

Anyone know of any VW dealers in Essex/London area that might play ball, or am I best off going with a broker?

Just spoke to Bluechilli and the A6 deal has been pulled. If anyone finds a similar deal for an A6 Avant, I would be interested.

Not a engine/car combo for the city in my opinion.
I agree. Having driven it though I was very surprised how smooth this 1.4t was and it'll be the perfect companion for 24 months of boring rural commuting for me.

I can totally see why it would be a poor choice for someone wanting excitement. They probably chose the wrong engine and/or car.

Have you tried Hollie Sharman at Listers in Stratford-upon-Avon or Sarah Carlton at Inchcape in Cheltenham?

Hollie - 01789 294477/07712 009541 or hollie.sharman@listers.co.uk

Pulled completely do you mean, or just pulled for those who haven't yet registered?

Not sure, I was registering my interest this morning. They said that there had been a lot of interest.

Think I *may* have got one of the last ones. Sent the forms back this morning for the A6 1.8TFSi Avant S-Line, in pearlescent Daytona grey, with full maintenance.

Final price was £893 initial and £297/mth for 8k miles on a 3+23.

Hope I haven’t made a mistake!!

I have a 1.4 A4 and can comment on both sides of the fence here in terms of power delivery. Historically ive had 2.0 TDIs across all the VAG brands.

if you stay in gear and get to low revs where the turbo isnt spooled (let off the accelerator for engine breaking), flooring it will get zero power for a second or two until the turbo spools. A drawback of a small engine with a big turbo.
Once you're aware of it, you know to drop a gear. bigger diesel engines you wouldn't have had to do that... but its not the same engine. Id imagine a 2.0 petrol with the same turbo wouldnt have this issue either.

in terms of a daily commuter machine, either on the motorway, or country roads, the 1.4 in the A4 is more than capable considering its price.

My only gripe with the 1.4 is the not great fuel economy. My previous 2.0TDI 184 VRS did better on economy (450 miles per tank as apposed to 320 in the 1.4) and was a lot more fun to drive. Interior is arguably better in the skoda aswell.

Just my 2p!

Good choice. I think the sweet spot is either the SE saloon (super cheap) or the Avant S Line. By the time you upgrade to the Avant, the S line upgrade is only something like £13 a month extra which is a bit of a no brainer for all the extras you get.

I'm speaking with Daniel at BCC at the moment. Build slots went from 15 down to 11 this morning, but haven't heard of anymore urgency from him in the last couple of hours.
