I know this is the Golf R and Audi S5 lease thread but has anyone seen any good basic transport deals lately. Ive had a good look back through the thread and can't see any. I'm looking for a 3 plus 23 for around £100 per month.
Just a basic car for my daughter.

Any ideas?

Brian.
www.contracthireandleasing.com and filter by price.

You'll be looking at a 108 sort of thing, maybe a Micra or a Nissan Quashqai (spelling). Fiat 500 might just be in budget.
Thanks for that.

Come on, if you are going to be sarcastic at least be accurate about it. There are GTIs and S4s too.

Another newbie question, related to the maths side of decision making i suppose: What are the general rule(s) of thumb for deciding a good deal? In a financial s a 2 year deal preferred to 3 or 4 year?

I got a test drive at Audi West London. I had an appointment at Reading but they cancelled when they couldn't get close to the quotes I have had from Fleetprice (lesson learnt for me - don't show the dealership your quote until after the test drive).
I was further north last week and could have done a test drive in Doncaster. Hope that helps

It's often the case that the two year deals are the spectacular ones for some reason.
If you follow up a two year deal and ask for three years, it often works out more expensive per month.
Plus the lease is a fixed term and you will pay heavy penalties to get out early usually.
Do you know what you will be doing in two years, three years, four years?

And further to that because the car depreciates less in the third year it's often cheaper to PCP/buy from a depreciation perspective than lease.

Always go for 2 year deals (unless, of course, something clearly ridiculous appears on a 3 year deal). Toward the end of the 2 years, if you feel you would like to keep the car ask them for an extension quote. Chances are this will work out better than taking a 3 year deal up front. It's also the lower risk option.

surprisingly enough we don't usually manage to cover off the needs of every single person on each page. The thread is about what's looking cheap at the mo, so you'll see a lot of the same things over the course of a quarter (or more). If you don't see what you want then either stay tuned and wait, or hit contracthireandleasing.com. Most of the people on here posting deals are getting them from broker mailouts so sign up for lots of those too.

Ok thanks for advice. I had been starting to look at deals on audi TT coupe 2.0 TFSI as it could come under top budget when looked at through rose tinted spectacles!!! But on second glance I think these have all been 9+35 so paying something like £13500 over 3 years for a £30-35k car...

In some cases it may be worth speccing all your desired options and getting a quotation to see what impact it will have on the monthlies..

In the cost breakdown for me, spec-ing 19" alloys on my 4 series actually brought down the price (not by much, only about £0.50/pm) as it's considered a desirable option when it comes to resale, so upgraded alloys were actually a free option for me, no-brainer!

BMW 730d M Sport Auto

8k p.a.
9+23
359.99 ex VAT (Business users)

Total cost inc VAT £13823.61,

List price is £69,180 so this comes in at 19.98%....£576 p/m amortised.

Main dealer no fees.....looks hot to me.

I think BMW seem to have a much more sensible attitude towards the cost of the options. I had a quote last year though Alphabet, before I realised the offer was strictly business users only. Some options (notably the Sports Pack) added a relatively small percentage of their actual cost whereas it seems that Audi add the full cost over the term of the lease.

I'm still looking for a bargain (as far as possible) lease deal and visit here each day etc.

I went to have a look at the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux Invincible and VW Amarok over the weekend.

Anyone know of any decent deals on these anywhere, or any contacts at dealers?

Slightly off topic, but relevant to this forum - my 2015 Tiguan is due it's first service, having covered 16k miles in last 2 years and I've just extended it for a 3rd year.

As it's a lease car does it have to be serviced by VW or can I take it to an indi?

Few different opinions on this - VWFS say it must be serviced by VW to keep its warranty (which is contrary to the block exemption as far as I know) and local indi says they can service it, but that VW are doing something digitally which apparently gets around the block exemption issue, but no idea what that is or what it means.

Any views or experiences from the PH leasers?

Cheers

News flash! Iv been using CVL, not the best, prefer select as they are honest to the point and cheaper.

However, cvl tells me new golf R deals are due end of this month early May. They messed me around big time on the gti, could this be sales talk or is it that time to hawk this forum extremely?

If so, i am so signing up. Lets get our proposal forms ready!!
They assured me my Scirocco would be start of March but it arrived right at the end of Marchm which emant extending my current lease for a month and having to fork out for another service.

Not a greta experience for me.

Its not worth it. Would you rather spend say £200 at VW or say £100 at an indi then get fined £400 (which is what they charge) for the non complete service history (which they insist being their own)? The cars are worth more to them with dealer service history.

Thanks for the quick response - suspected that might be the case.

Will see if I can get my local VW garage to price match/meet me half way on the quote from the indi.

Used to be a big VW fan, but have always found dealing with their dealerships to be an unpleasant experience.

VW can't insist that you use a main dealer - like you say, block exemption.

However, VWFS can insist if it is a condition of your lease agreement - I suggest you give that document a read.

If it's a VWFS lease then you MUST use a main dealer. Read the documents but as said, if VWFS you will get whacked if you go elsewhere. Edited to add, is it nothing to do with warranty. It's a simple term/condition that they stipulate and you agreed to it.

Is everyone with a VWFS car having it serviced when the car tells them? I just posted on the Alltrack thread asking about this, but then saw you guys were talking about it. I assumed the car would tell me, but then had a strongly worded latter saying if I don't stick to the schedule I could get fined ~£400 and I'm not sure what schedule my Alltrack is on.

It seems that it is worth calling around your local VW main dealers as if you look at the Alltrack thread, there is a massive variation in price.
