I bought an Impreza despite all the forums saying that it would have bottom end failure etc. 7 years of joy with no problems withbthat car.
Bought a Focus ST despite hearing of liner cracking, 2 years of fun with no issues at all.
Bought a Volvo S60R despite the same possible problems as the Focus and that one did indeed end up needing a £2500 new shimmed engine, but now the engines done it should be stronger than ever.
Basically if you only went by horror stories (every car has them) you would ride a bike.
