Get a 200. You will love it

When everybody is running around in 10 years time in 1.0 litre turbo'd fartboxes and / or electric cars you'll remember the time you had one of the last great NA hot hatches. smile

I'd run with the freshest one in your preferred colour range with sensible miles, belt done (if its due it) and the spec you want.

Out of the one listed which would you pick? I would rather have air con etc than recaro seats

Have you ditched the C30 idea then? Have you sold your car yet?

Get it! smile

Just coming to end of ownership after 2 years and 20k miles (2009 200).

I would 1"0% go for full fat with cup chassis, trust me the extra bits and bobs on full fat is well worth it, especially as they are the same price to buy.

Any questions about them please ask, drive mine everyday.

Chocolate gearboxes seem to be a problem in the 197/200

It's mostly resolved in the 200 and it's not terminal.

Gearbox rebuilds (usually for synchro in 3rd gear) aren't the end of the world to get done if needs be

Is it brand new which you got? Have you any links for the car on Autotrader?

With respect, why cant you look yourself? Its not hard on Autotrader.

Also, you may well have to consider travelling more than 20 miles to get the right car.

It's a shame they didn't do a R27 200. I have the R27 197 and it has cup chassis and seats etc but still ac and so on. Best of both worlds. Perfect little daily!

Not on auto trader yet buddy. Sorry is what brand new?

55k miles
FSH Renault and specialist, regular oil changes, fixed anything that come up straight away in my ownership at a reputable specialist. Depp black with cup chassis, CAT C smile so it's going cheap, but I am in Kent?

I have done kindly see the first page of cars I have found. But I have asked people who know a little bit more about this specific car than myself.

I might go and have a look at this one: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

Give it a test drive and then try is one:

Gives me a good test to try the two out, see which I prefer.

Do test a 172 cup , yes it's older but it's cheaper , handling is pretty much perfect out the box plus the mpg is better than the 197/200.

Also 5000 and your into trophy territory to .

The 09 car looks relatively expensive compared to the 2012 one.

I'd personally aim for the youngest car possible for my budget, but thats entirely up to you.

Dont forget to ask about / budget for a timing belt replacement. Budget £500 from a specialist, probably £900 from Renault.

Also condition of clutch , it's a nightmare replacing the clutch in the 1*2 as the engine bays so tight you have to drop the subframe , so if your paying somebody to do it for you that's going to add up.

True.

And check the gearbox - synchro on third gear.
