BMW M135i Insuranace
Discussion
My 21 year old nephew recently changed his Fiesta Zetec S to a 300bhp Leon Cupra (new on lease)
The additional insurance premium was £200 or so for a few months. The insurers said that the annual premium would be £800 or so for the Cupra.
Renewal has come up as £2k and he cannot find it any cheaper anywhere else.
Cannot get rid of the car as its leased. Cannot afford the £2k as he is on minimum wage. Cannot leave the car on the drive uninsured as the Lease Company wont allow it.
If you want that kind of car at that age, your wallet will be emptied.

Hard to say nothing's changed when we're just starting to see the effects of the Ogden rate amendment;

But I appreciate you mean nothing's changed your end OP!
As others have said, you need to shop around like there's no tomorrow. Try firms that market themselves as specialists in providing insurance to young drivers, performance cars etc. etc. Also worth looking into owners club affiliations, forum discounts.

Right, something that gets covered on a daily here but I'm geniuenly shocked with insurance costs and how seriously badly the whole system is managed. I'm nearly 22 years old, 3 years no claims, had a 350z for a year, a couple of RX8's including an R3 and i was lucky enough to bag myself a BMW M135i!! so a 3.5l 350z when i was 19-20 was £1500 for the year insurance with a no fault accident a year before which bumped my insurance by £500 for someone running into the back of me stationary!!! Not bitter - promise... then last year i was in a pile up where the car in front hit the car in front of him and i sadly didn't see him slam on brakes in time for me to stop on the m25 leading me to go into back of him, minimal damage. NO ONE CLAIMED. Insurance quotes before i bought it were around £1700, but for some reason they are now asking £4000 WITHOUT A BLACK BOX FOR NO REASON THAT I CAN CLEARLY SEE. ITS INFURIATING. Does anyone have any tips rather than get rid of the car... that can help, insurance now is just a joke. Im in a well paid job but i cannot see how people afford to drive cars. the premiums are so poorly maintained and are quite frankly a con. ANGRY POST DONE.
dont really see the problem here, no disrespect but you fall into the 'risk' category and have accidents in recent years (wherether or not you are at fault is irrelevant unfortunately it seems) insuring a high performance car like a M135I is always a big ask i thinkHave you tried adrian flux or chris knott?
