Help picking a car!!
Discussion
Hi,
So as per the title I am in the market for a car.
I am wanting it to have a decent acceleration so under 7secs would be good but would look at slightly higher, good on twisty roads and can do 40+mpg when driven to the speed limits I have around £9k
Other things that would be nice, infotainment/DAB, have a decent exhaust note
Appreciate any help
Thanks

Best car you will get for the money, no 40mpg though, can't have it all.
So you want a modern (so newish), fast, economical car for 9k. Not gonna happen.
Afraid you're going to have to probably drop one of them. Probably modern or fast. Modern and fast in your price range and you'll probably be looking at leggy and/or unreliable examples.

No, I'm just messing, a understated car that I completely forgot about!

You can get a mk7 Fiesta ST for £9000.
Quick. Under 6s 0-60
Good drive especially around the twisties.
35mpg can get 40+ if you drive like a nun.
Not many problems reported.
I bought one as it had warranty. Cheap parts if things were to go wrong.
I would have loved an Elise/ VX220/ E46 M3 but they are older cars with more expensive parts and no warranty.
Depreciation has been quite bad on the Fiesta ST but I guess prices may firm up in the coming months.

Despite that, if you can get a decent one sub £9k it seems to tick all the boxes.

What do you think of the Coupe Cooper S?
I haven't got one but my ex run one for a year or two. It was an R56 which she had from new. It was a fun car in fairness, it also sounded pretty good to my ears. The only thing that let it down was the engine "rattle", you might want to google "R56 Death Rattle" for more information. This was a few years ago now so I assume someone somewhere has solved the issue.
