In my case: 8'x4' sheets of plywood, 6m long 8x2, my 4 man canoe.... start eating those shredded wheat !
I find it easy to load my bike onto the car's roof carrier, and remove it at destination.

However, after a 4 hour hard ride, it becomes much harder to put it back on! Last thing I would want to do it mess about with a Hop-On stool.

So can see the advantages for extended trips, but not for day trips.

There's no doubting it's easier though if the roof of your car is at elbow height! smile

Toyota Yaris Verso. Cheap as chips, and probably big enough for a moto, although the suspension won't like it. Brother law just bought one for transporting his mountain bikes. Can stick them in without taking wheels off.

As always it does depend what you need.

I can get 6 people and 6 bikes inside my LWB T4

I did consider MPVs but if I can't get 8x4 sheets inside, it's no use to me.

Yup... Hideous! smile
Brother in law got one in red, his dad bought him a black white cat to go on the rear parcel shelf wink

Think I might get one in white; battenburg stickers, blue lights etc, do some private ambo runs!

Well just to tie this thread up I have bought a nice 56 plate transit with low (107k) millage as well as a lovely Z4 roadster with the 3.0 engine. Might not be exactly the motorway cruiser I was planning but the wife is happy and I have to say that the straight 6 makes a lovely noise - roll on a few more sunny days!
