Funnily enough I think you're the guy that bought my grey mk2.5 with the brown roof and supercharged it.....small world!

R32 GTR. You'll need to take time to look for the right one, or import one yourself, but the prices are only going one way.

I loved owning mine. It's the first car I've ever owned where I've not seen another on the road during (and after!) my ownership.
I've been looking for a car to fit a bill similar to the OP
And have seriously been thinking about a 32 GTR myself
If the price of 34s is anything to go by, it could go very well for appreciating values

I am, how funny! Yep, M45 charger, ME ECU, new sills, the full monty :-). I've absolutely adored that car and sunk a small fortune into it but after two mk5's I feel it's time for a change so she'll be up for sale over the next few weeks. You did a great job on the looks, it gets a lot of admiration.

Lot's of Jap recommendations and I do love them all, if I did go that route I'd get an R33 Skyline or a P1 Impreza but they just don't float my boat in the same way as they used to. I think a naturally aspirated soft-top is the focus so the BMW roadsters may be worth a shout, I just wonder how good a bet they'll be in terms of values, the Elise and TVR just feel a little bit more specialist, more enthusiasts cars.
