Car might be a no go anyway - think it's cheap because it isn't a GT...and therefore has no air con. Think that's an essential in 2017!
It’s your choice but I did similar when buying an Impreza and regretted not holding out for one with air con.

FWIW, I leave air con on all year round and it keeps the car cool in the hotter months and dry/delisted in the wetter months.

Chris

I'm thinking air con and cruise is important. Shame, as a fifteen hundred quid saving would be quite good.

Are you thinking of keeping it for a while? Because as you see EH are finding out that without these items they are difficult to shift ( as in they have to price it low.

Ditto. Air con is more appreciated in wetter months.

Have you been to see the car, the brakes may have been changed since the Mot. Also they may change the brake disks on the car before you buy it.

It wouldnt necessarily put me off but it depends how bad they are when you look at it.
If they are really gone it would make me think that it has not been looked after very good, so it could mean that here will be more problems.

But if they dont look too bad then it likely means the Mot tester is just being picky, or looking to get extra work on changing the brakes.

Decided to get one with the air con and cruise. Do too many motorway miles to go without.

You're not the only one, my partner bought a car from them and they added on about £1000 worth of extras without telling her or explaining what she was paying for. We're still fighting for a refund 3 months on. Evans Halshaw don't seem to care once they have got your money.

Why did you pay a grand more ... ? Surely you noticed before making the payment ?

Not at all. I believe any MOT tester worth their salt would (is duty bound to?) advise on anything that would not get through a year's usage. Tyres are very common advisories.

It's as "essential" as you think it is. If your attitude has changed over the years, then that's your choice as you get old...

If something's doing highish mileage, then a set of brand new tyres and brakes would get an advisory, from that logic.

Good choice, cruise is great if motorway work is common imo, makes the 50mph bits in particular nice and easy.

Think you would have regretted not getting one with a/c and cruise.

The a/c went in my Volvo a few years ago and I drove 3 hours a day through summer and it wasn't very nice.

Being black didn't help :-)

Did you have to pay much more than the original car?

The one without the ac was at Evans Halshaws for 4789. I have agreed 6000 private sale for a year newer, 15k less miles, car, with the GT trim and also optional sat nav and bluetooth.

Just have a look through the alloy wheel, 95% of time they write it in to drum up a bit of business. I took my rs focus mk3 in for it's 3 year service and was told front brakes were low and discs are worn. The cars only done 20000 miles. So I confronted the dealers and showed them the discs and pads which were halfway..they were going to charge me£600 plus to sort it . And there was nothing wrong with it. Passed it's mot a few months later no advisorys.
