So, "£55 - £60k on something for the weekend"?

Easy, this one. Suite at a hotel in Vegas, four hookers, and a massive bag of coke.

Oh, a CAR, you mean? In that case:

BMW M5. All the performance car you'll ever need. Buy the newest you can afford.
Merc SL63 AMG. Good looking, and brutal. Like finding out Kylie Minogue is a proficient MMA cage fighter.
Aston Martin V8 Vantage. You will NEVER tire of looking at it. Taking it to the dealer every five minutes will be tiresome, however.
Porsche Cayman GTS. So new, it will still have loads of warranty left. Fast and capable.
Honda NSX. Your budget will get you a REALLY nice one.

I would suggest getting down to as many specialist dealers as you can, making it very clear that you have £55-60k to spend on a "fast toy". Then test drive the crap out of lots of special cars.

Have fun!
Love it!

My father in law has a capri he's had from new - done about 30k and comes out in the summer only. I remember as a teenager lusting after a Capri 3.0S. The Tickford would be something else!

Aston Martin Rapid V12

Rare
Lovely V12
Stunning looks
Not many people really know about them so they are cheaper than they should be.

Gt4 - 50k down & low finance payments.
Awesome cars that are already a legend.
GT4 great if flawed package and trumped by the 981 Spyder.

I think if you spunked 50k or whatever on a tickford Capri you'd be pretty gutted tbh when you look at what else has already been mentioned. And as for driving it into Europe, only if you want to knacker it and reduce its value significantly.
From his post I think the OP wants somethi g actually exciting and drivable for jaunts away and weekend hols. Not something to take on a trailer to the Ford national day etc. :-)

I've seen a few over the years at shows I've been to(I'm a Ford saddo though!), and I saw another at Trax at Silverstone this month...it's the ultimate Capri for me.

I understand this point of view for sure, I'd be really tempted by a TVR Sagaris at this money too, but that's a marmite choice as well.

I was going to suggest a R8 V10 Manual before I saw you'd already considered it.

Any manual V10 is a pretty special car.

Dodge Viper - though IMHO the looks are a bit tonka and well a Cerbera is a far far far pretties car.

How about a run out model of the epic Jag XK-R Dynamic.

Vert or Coupe.

Heck even the old 4.2v8 sounds stunning but the 5ltr V8 supercharged is a masterpiece.

Why not grab one? You won't lose money, it's something waay different, and you only live once.

3 pages in and a few mentions of Lotus. How about an Alfa 4c? A few dealers are heavily discounting new cars from 60k+ down to the mid 40s. It's a very exotic car for that money.

I'm 6ft2 and my head was brushing the roof in the 4c, the steering is ridiculous heavy at low speed parking etc, and it's not that quick. It's very exotic as you say for the cash, and I can see them being a future classic, however a lot of reports seem mixed about them .
