Is that genuine??

Your pal bought an M135i 3 years ago for £***** & sold it last week with 30k miles on it for £1500 less than he bought it for??

Something doesn't add up as these are 10 a penny in the classifieds & hardly rare. I'd say it lost 50% of it's purchase price over that term.
I would be thinking the same that his lose would be heavy. There are huge discounts on these and have been for ages so they aren’t going to have a strong residual.

It’s 6.95 ppm on contract however the dealer might give a better discount upfront (or may not)

If you want to ask it’s NHawkins@harwoods.uk.com

I’ve got 23x £221 with 6x upfront on 8,000 direct from Audi dealer.

They should be able to match your quote without fees

Seems pretty good for auto a5 - am nearly fisting it and have paperwork so is legit price.

Audi A5 Sportback 1.4 TFSI SE 5dr S Tronic

Personal Contract Hire
£199.99 Per Month, INC VAT
Rental Profile 9+23
Annual Mileage 10k Miles p/a
Initial Rental £1,799.91
Additional Fees £238.80

Total cost £6638, £276.60 amoritised

https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/independent...
That's £6409 total cost for an 8k vehicle - how much extra per mile? would have to be under 6.85p per mile to be cheaper doing 10k by my calculations

Very good deal on that. I am however tempted to buy one. Friend bought his m135i 3 years ago and sold it last week after putting nearly 30k miles on it. Total cost of ownership (excluding the usual tyres, brakes etc)... £1500. But I don't particularly want to 'own' another car...

I would say he is conveniently excluding depreciation.....

That is correct. I was with him when he bought it second hand, so know exactly what he paid for it. And it sold last week for the asking price on Gumtree. They're 10 a penny, but if you look at the classifieds, for a well specced couple year old M135i, there's only a few thousand in the price between a few 1 year old m140i's. Whether that means the newer cars are heavily discounted or haven't got as strong a residual, I don't know.

So what did he buy it for 3yrs ago & what did he sell it for??

Just £1500 depreciation on one of these over 3yrs & 30k miles is at best a miracle.

Is that including VAT?
Yes including VAT, should also mention it’s the manual and includes metallic paint
Is this business users only? I’ve looked on there website and can only see business deals?
Cheers
No it’s personal, I enquired through their website and eventually spoke to someone who has sent me a formal quote!

He bought a say 3 year old one (I think they only came out in 2012?) for £19k and sold a 6 year old one for £17.5k with 30k miles more on? I think that does actually count as a miracle...

Tbf I was looking at 3 door autos with some of the 'must haves' (heated seats and HK audio) 2 or so years ago and they're still high teens now for a good one which is similar to what they were then.

This is something I’ve struggled to understand for a while. Prices of m140/m135 seem very bunched together, regardless of age. And it’s not just m135/m140s. Quite a few Other cars where similar situation.

Probably be true for the M140's too if the new iteration is FWD and 4cyl.

Hi, new to PH. I have a golf R mk 7 that’s going back to the leasing company early March. I’m thinking of buying a Touerag 65plate to replace it as fancy a 4x4. My question is do you think the Touerag will be a lot thirstier on fuel, motorway, around town and country B roads. Appreciate driving will be different in the Touerag but need to be sure it won’t be a nightmare in cost comparison?
