Hi, new to PH. I have a golf R mk 7 that’s going back to the leasing company early March. I’m thinking of buying a Touerag 65plate to replace it as fancy a 4x4. My question is do you think the Touerag will be a lot thirstier on fuel, motorway, around town and country B roads. Appreciate driving will be different in the Touerag but need to be sure it won’t be a nightmare in cost comparison?
These are good reference sites:http://www.fuelly.com/

I am surprised to see that there are more agressive deals on the new Cayenne (which has a V6 biturbo, petrol)

Than on the Macan with a four pot 2l engine...

my friend has the 3.0 v6 tdi and has been pretty disappointed by the fuel consumption especially around town but can't see how it can be much worse than the R. I would check out audivw etc and get onto a touareg forum to get more accurate real world figures.greghm said:

Thanks, dropped them a mail. Last time a Cayenne deal was shared here it turned out to be for the current model, but worth a shot.http://www.keyfleetdirect.co.uk/personal-lease-car...

Audi Q5 Diesel Estate
2.0 TDI Quattro S Line 5dr S Tronic
£299.99
Per Month, INC VAT
9+23 8k Miles p/a
£2,699.91 Initial Payment
In stock, no fees apparently
I make that £9,599.68 or around 23% of list which is the best I've seen on this model for a while
Just to illustrate how good this deal is versus a PCP, my friend recently had a PCP quote on one of these which was something in the region of:Audi Q5 Diesel Estate

£5k deposit
47x £400
On 8k miles pa
Plus a balloon at the end obviously (if u were keeping it)
You might be able to argue that there might be some equity left at the end of that 4 years but I think it’s a pretty ringing endorsement of how much better financial sense a PCH lease is on some cars.

Generally, how often does a good PCH deal actually work out cheaper than ownership (assuming outright cash purchase)?
For example, re above q5 deal, I think you can get 13-14% discount on new. So cash purchase of £35k.
Presumably you’d have to think residual value of 2yr old car with 15k miles on is going to be below £25-26k to be out of pocket - which would potentially appear conservative vs current q5 residuals (and cars in question are now non-current model)

They are advertised as a personal deal but when you try to actually get the deal it comes with typical small print like.............
"RESTRICTIONS: Personal Contract Hire offers are only available to Company Directors or those in receipt of a Personal Car Allowance" !
If it is a true personal deal and open to anyone without restrictions, then please post a link.....i am sure there would be a few people very interested.
had a call from audi main dealer today, they asked how my lease car was going. I said fine thanks. They proposed that as I was way over 50% the way through the term, I could take early termination and so take them up on one of their current offers. Nice to see their sales gonks are not even educated on the basic parameters of the packages they sell.

As a main dealer they can waive any early termination fees, providing-A) they want your car
B) you sign a new lease
Point B being the problem. They are unlikely to give a great deal. Not impossible, just unlikely

I think you have to treat most of the PCP deals as "walking away half way" as per the small print, which is the only way to make any financial sense of some of these deals..obviously still very bad deal compare to PCH..unless like me at one point, you do not know any better and get super excited about a car you always wanted and go for a silly 5 year PH deal..which luckily turned out to be car of my dreams, that I have spend even more money on pimping and upgrading it, absolutely love it to bits 3 years in, drive it anywhere and won't let it go..in that case a "great deal" becomes irrelevant ...
