VWFS seem to be bucking the trend of not allowing the lessee to buy their own vehicle. They've offered the Golf R Estate to me (or friends, family, etc - basically anyone) for £21,190.
I'm not going to buy it, in fact I've just arranged to terminate 1 month early, but it sort of makes a mockery of one of the 'downsides' of PCH in that you could never own the car. I haven't done the maths on this versus 2yr PCP yet, so not sure if it works out better all in. I'd imagine it has been better to lease.
Anyway, sorry for going slightly off topic, but it's interesting for any new VWFS leasers out there that you'll get the option to buy the car at the end.

My employer is stopping the company cars at work so need a new car ASAP. I have 2 choices. 1 lease a new car as cheap as possible. 2. By a £1k shed. What is the cheapest lease deal going. Not bothered about image or speed etc, just the cheapest. I have managed to find a Suzuki celerio for £150pm with 1 months deposit. Cheers
Some cheap options

Corsa https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/independent...
Fiat 500 https://www.contracthireandleasing.com/independent...

Quoted on the site is 6+ and needs VAT adding for personal lease, but should work out at around £150 on a 1+35 deal inc VAT if you get them to quote it on this basis

I may be interested in the Disco Sport they have on offer for 398 plus 4200 down.

Wouldn't the velar make more sense since it's cheaper and a more expensive car? And for the extra £3k you can option out the extra special on the Disco SportI may be interested in the Disco Sport they have on offer for 398 plus 4200 down.

Well the obvious difference with a 2yr PCP is that you may have equity at the end (of course, you may not). Think VW are shooting themselves in the foot with some of the current delivery times - maybe thats why we are seeing a few more audi deals than VW at the minute - purely my opinion.edit : thier site say 16 weeks but if its an new order I've not found anyone who will give estimates of less than 32 weeks.

Is leasing at high mileage (20k+ a year) ever affordable? I'm looking for a big estate or ideally an SUV but every time I increase the mileage to 20k the monthly costs tend to go through the roof.
Am I better off just buying a used motorway cruiser and running it to the ground? I did have my heart set on a BMW X1 but they never seem affordable with a high mileage.
I have a V90 R design coming on a 25k miles a year deal and its costing about £429 inc vat on a 3+ 23 deal which i think is good for 25k miles annually Am I better off just buying a used motorway cruiser and running it to the ground? BMW FS offer the same, or at least they did last year on my F10 M5 & was a very keen price, but had another car inbound so let a friend take the rather superb deal.I'm not going to buy it, in fact I've just arranged to terminate 1 month early, but it sort of makes a mockery of one of the 'downsides' of PCH in that you could never own the car. Fully intend to purchase the current Golf R Estate when it nears the end of it's term & i'd hope like BMW they have some wiggle room as worth noting that 95% of these lease returns go straight to Auction & will therefore sell for bottom book money, along with the costs of inspection, collection & disposal, plus the Auctions charge a healthy fee, so my perception is you're saving the funder money by them not taking it back & thus should be reflected in the price you negotiate.
Hi my current lease deal is coming to an end (September) so I’m starting to weigh my options up and get some advice.
My current deal was a two year lease for a Kia sportage (1.6 GDI 1) paying 3 months up front and monthly payments of £139.14 for 8,000 miles. By my reckoning at the time the total cost was 21% of the purchase price. The best deals at the moment seem far more and calculate at approximately 27/28% of the purchase price.
I do like the look of the Volvo XC40 as a new option but the prices for those seem extremely high. The best % I’ve seen is 31% and whilst I appreciate I’d have to pay more for an XC40 than the Sportage would you expect the current deals to become more attractive at all?
Thanks!

I've been looking since xmas and waiting for a good deal on similar type of car and tbh there is no real great deals out there, infact is actually a struggle to anything delivered with reasonable time (32 weeks lead on Tiguan) I did see a Sportage GT line 1.6T for about £198 a month and £1400 down and also Tuscan for about £190 similar down. I was hoping for the same but based on current prices my car will be a round £21,500 - £22,500 - I have 7.5 estate dsg, white.Fully intend to purchase the current Golf R Estate when it nears the end of it's term & i'd hope like BMW they have some wiggle room as worth noting that 95% of these lease returns go straight to Auction & will therefore sell for bottom book money, along with the costs of inspection, collection & disposal, plus the Auctions charge a healthy fee, so my perception is you're saving the funder money by them not taking it back & thus should be reflected in the price you negotiate.
So lets take middle - £22,000 - if I add my lease cost (1537.20 deposit, 256.20 a month) = £7429.80
That gives me a brand new price of £29,429.80 (ignore vehicle tax which is included in lease)
Brand new can get same spec for £30,389 on broadspeed. So guess with vehicle tax as well saving of approx £1400 as to walking in and pcp'ing (if 0% of course).
Saving yes - but I reckon like yourself it will cost them more in collecting etc - but VW seemed to have wised up to this - mate of mine got his golf r esate offer of just under 20k - and his lease was one of the cheaper estate deals - think it was £6500 ish for 2 years 10k miles. Of course this is mk7 and not mk 7.5
Seems an unusual business model to offer the car to the current leaser at an attractive price. This will mean the buyer potentially coming out of the lease market for the next 2-5 years.
Suprised they don't instead offer loyalty discounts on leasing the next car to keep them in the brand.
Suppose it's vwfs meeting their own targets rather than looking at best for the VW group.

One quick question if you purchase the car at the end of the lease can you avoid any BCA inspection charges or over mileage fees?
You may avoid the damage fees but in reality you are not avoiding excess mileage fees because if you tell them you stuck to the contracted mileage they will charge a higher price for the car, similarly if you own up about the mileage they may reduce the purchase price but then charge the excess mileage.Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
