I picked up a new A5 at the end of April on PCH and was able to get the free driveaway insurance just fine (had the policy documents emailled to me, etc.)

What has changed in the past few months is that the dealer previously used to be able to set this all up for you, but now the customer has to phone the Audi insurance people directly and arrange it with them.

If it's not supposed to apply to PCH anymore then nobody seemed to know this! To be honest my dealer seemed to have little idea about the new process and even gave me the old number to arrange the insurance, so I can imagine some dealers just saying it's not available to avoid looking stupid perhaps...

Give the the insurance people a call on 03458 776236 and ask about it while being totally upfront that it's PCH. That's the new number I was given by the "old" insurance people and is the same number listed on the www.vwfsinsuranceportal.co.uk mentioned above.
Maybe they changed it since September. I called directly and at the beginning of the call there was a set of questions and one of them was "Are you registered keeper?". I answered "No" and call center person just went through it like I said Yes. They didn't even pay attention to it. So I raised it again and then they said, they can't insure it. But it was all stated on website before, now it's gone. It would be good change. I had to pay exta to my insurance, to keep my previous car for 3 days, before was collected.

£159.80 on a 3+23

Fee of 300 mind you. Some of the fees from dealers are getting out of hand

Sorry , off topic - Kind of, but think this would be a good place to ask.

If a car is picked up at the end of the agreement, has over mileage charges to pay and also has a couple of damaged wheels logged on the handover paperwork. How long is it before you could expect the bill ? Would there be a time limit on how long they should get back to you, either by law or ethically ?

Cheers

Usually 2-4 weeks from my experience
My bills (one for mileage one for damage) came a couple of weeks after from VWFS.

Another question - do they take the damage and excess mileage money automatically or do you have to ring up and pay? I remember seeing the individual letters, but my wife "tidied them up" and I cannot find them - I was expecting chasing letters, but nothing yet and I've not noticed the money going out.

I’ve just been talking to a Seat dealer.

He stated that Cupra’s cannot be ordered from the factory. That’s not a long lead time; no-one can place an order at all.
I’ve just been told that, weirdly, this is a factory order so December or January delivery.

I didn’t ask why there’s a restriction on colours.

It was around £220ish on a 6+23 for 10k, not including the £250 back of course which was nice

Its a manual. So far so good. Rides fine, no issues. Doesnt sound very special at all though, very muted which suits me but I expected a little more noise.

What offer you get on the golf R. I've been looking daily for a decent deal?

Hi All,

Thanks for the previous suggestions, think we’re going to go for a Tiguan, in stock which is important as my wife’s current car failed yesterday and it’s not worth repairing!

The best deal I can find is https://www.whatcar.com/car-leasing/deals/personal...

Anyone know of a better deal, 24 months is better because should get away with not changing tyres?

Thanks

Sam
Windrush Volkswagen are saying this morning that the offer is no longer available ... Bloody frustrating!

Looking for a replacement for my folks' yeti.

Petrol. Auto. Something big enough for dog crate and 15 umbrellas.

They're currently paying about £200/month. Think it was about £1000 down. With 5-8k being more than enough.

Any suggestions?

The Golf R is a better car in just about every way.

I secured a C250d AMG Line 20k miles for not much more recently if interested. Mercedes on Lease the broker.

I'd agree. The only non-subjective plus point for the Merc is it being a bigger car, meaning more room, space, etc and better fuel economy, depending on mileage/use.

Two very different cars really.

Why should someone restrict themselves to thinking about 1 type of car?
I was looking for an R estate or Cupra ST
Ended up with an S4 saloon (and a brown wheely bin so I don’t have to take the garden waste to the tip)

I'm on a 6+23, 10,000 miles per annum £295 inc per month

I wanted a small saloon ideally. I took the golf because I knew it was a good deal over a short term. So figure i can flip out of it in 18 months
