Looking at the new Touareg or the Xc90, 2 years 10k.
Been offered Touareg for £542.88pm with £2714.40 deposit (9p per mile excess +vat) dealer contribution will reduce the deposit by an extra £1100.
Works out around 28%....good deal?
That is awesome, is that the V12 Diesel or the 1.4 TFSI ? it might make a difference no ? Been offered Touareg for £542.88pm with £2714.40 deposit (9p per mile excess +vat) dealer contribution will reduce the deposit by an extra £1100.

@Cfboys where can we get these deals you are posting/asking about?
Rang up and they are not available unless you have a code from your employer. Who I presume have contracts with affinity. They didn’t really want to talk about how you can get the deals. I asked how and they just asked who I worked for and then said sorry we can’t offer you these deals. the New Touaregs aren't cheap. The Cheapest i have found is via Uchoose.
On a separate note I have seen the following XC90 R Design D5 9+23 8000pa £439.95pm with £3,959.55 down. http://www.neva.direct/personal-lease-cars/volvo/x...
this works out to a 25.5% of RRP. Is this a good deal or should i be using the price you can possibly get it for with discount because that comes out at just over 29%.
My golf R goes back in october but dont want to be lumbered without a car so am anxious. I could always wait a few days for next quarter but thoughts would be welcome.

Anyone driven the Golf GTE? I'm looking and seen a deal for £250pm 10k 3mth initial.
Battery Range is 30miles so I can get to work, plug in and then drive back at no real petrol cost each day.
Very appealing as I spend around £150pm on petrol, so even saving £100 would mean I'm paying out £150pm for a brand new Golf.
Anyone have any experience of EV and how the battery range performs. Is it as simple as what ive suggested above?
you'll need to charge it at home too at night, based on the above movements. Also in Winter would you still get 30 mile range?Battery Range is 30miles so I can get to work, plug in and then drive back at no real petrol cost each day.

i think there is a huge difference between the properly designed-for-electric cars and these ones which have had plug in technology tacked on to an existing design. With both however i think there is a big gulf between expectation and reality. I'd ignore the manufacturers economy figures and be reading up on real life experiences before getting one for sure. Negative points aren't just on battery stuff either.

Just by reading the last few experiences from people....comments about Winter affecting the range etc. I agree. Plus the fact I must have been looking at a business lease rather than Personal. Its now probably borderline worth it.
I may stick with my old trusted commuter for a year or so more. Hopefully more products on the market and lower prices by then, but I don't hold by breath.
The fact I get free charging at work is a bonus though. But when you look at the comments about low 30s when using petrol in the Golf. Its not worth it

A 30kw used Nissan Leaf would do a much better job for commuting. You'd save a fortune on fuel with a 90 mile real world range. Just so as long as you like driving at 70mph or less. Its now probably borderline worth it.

I think you can get a used i3 Rex for about £15k which might be a better choice because you get electric range not far off a Leaf plus the backup Range Extender so you don't might not need a secondary backup ICE car for longer road trips. The i3 is also much quicker and fun to drive and is a nicer car overall

I am starting to warm to electric vehicles - it is worth watching the Fully Charged channel on Youtube - very well produced with some very realistic reviews of current, and some interesting, electric cars and other tech.https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=fully...
Electric cars are great if your driving fits the correct criteria - they are getting better too.
I still think Formula E is a stupid and boring series - nothing is going to encourage people to buy an electric cars than seeing drivers having to change cars halfway through the race.....
