Thanks for the comments.

I drove a 2018 reg Audi A4 1.4 diesel Black edition early this year and wasnt too impressed.

I am going to test drive an Audi A7 tomorrow at Reading Audi and my brother in law's 530D (tonight).

I have reserved an Audi A7 Black Edition, diesel, 3.0, 272bhp, 2018 reg, 8k miles, cost is £35,750 from an Audi dealership. Think its a good price.

Consider that I have been driving a 2006 Honda Accord 2.2 iCTDI since 2011. New car took a while since I live near the town (no driveway) and I do regular Glasgow visits.

I think I'm in for a pleasant shock with both cars.
You won't be disappointed I'm sure - it's a lovely car.

Although the interior of the A4 is nicer than the A7 IMO (especially if the A4 had the Tech Pack), which is one of the main reasons I would go for the 6er over the A7 in a straight choice between the two.

Just to add my two pennies... I've had both of these. A 2011 A7 3.0l SE Quattro (S-tronic) and a 2013 640d GC. I'd choose the A7 every day of the week.

The aesthetics are subjective, but I prefer the look of the A7. It's also much more practical thanks to the hatchback. It's less powerful but was easier to drive quickly... the 640 is very barge like. The A7 interior was much nicer than the BMW, which to me felt quite dated after the initial novelty wore off. Like an old man's car smile

I had the A7 for two years and sold it to buy the GC. The BMW had loads of great kit although the only thing I miss is the HUD. I sold it after less than a year. Probably the most disappointing car I've owned... wouldn't have another frown
