Thoughts on a Ford Puma
Discussion
Been offered a Puma for sale which I am wondering if it’s worth rescuing. 87k miles on a 51 plate. Needs a new clutch, engine has an old leak (possibly crankshaft bearing seals?) and needs a few cosmetic bits such as the high level brake light is missing. Best bit is that it’s rust free, especially around the rear arches. Always had a soft spot for these - wondering what anyone thought? Worth a punt ?
The owner wants about £300 but might take a little less if I am lucky. Tiny bit of rust around the rear axle mounts but rear arches and underneath All looks surprisingly tidy. No underseal that I can see. MOT about to run out but it’s at an MOT place and they reckon it would get through with no issues. It is tempting.....
Thanks everyone - I am really tempted. It’s at the MOT station as just had two new front tyres fitted but the clutch went pop at the same time, it’s sadly not their car. I was thinking for £40 to stick it through the MOT and see what happens. They reckon £700 to put it right, sadly I think for a £1,000 there are better ones out there. Such a shame, wish I was better with the spanners myself. And it’s not that reg I am afraid, sorry!
