Depends on how much you were paying per month to begin with, if you had put a massive initial down then the monthlies will probably go up.

A lot of it boils down to the payment structure, the miles used vs miles already paid for, any depreciation evaluation they have and also how badly they want the car back.
Why would they charge you more to extend if you paid a higher initial deposit?

Extension quotes seem to be pretty random. Some people get decent or cheap quotes, some people can get quite high and they may have started with the same prices/deals. The only way is to request a quote and see what comes back.

Imagine you had paid £2,400 upfront & £100 over month for 2 years, compared to someone who paid nothing up front & £200 per month for 2 years.

In both cases, the cost is £4,800 over 2 years.

When the lease company offers an extension at £150 per month, you currently paying £100 a month will be unhappy, the person paying £200 currently is well chuffed, even if it's the same deal.

A few months ago totalmotion had a deal with BMW series 530e for £360.
Has anyone had delivery yet?

Also my current Audi A7 is being collected. How much is alloy charge as mine and badly damaged.

Some people got deliveries of 530e, there were pictures posted in this thread. You have to scroll back.

Regarding damage on A7, assuming it's with VWFS, see this thread with prices: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Isn't £10,367.68 for A6 a bit too much? It's not even Quattro and only 204BHP.

I supposed that depends on whether you have a better recommendation.

Is there a reason why Alphabet (GB) leased a car from them 2 years ago due back in December are asking me to pay £10 for a Road Fund License Recharge having not paid any road tax with them for the duration?

Aren't they supposed to pay road tax as the lessor, I've never agreed to pay any form of tax - it's just lease payment monthly and insurances...

Seems like they've offloaded the increase in tax charge to me as the lessee for no real reason, I was also invoiced on 9/11 and paid on the 10/11 so seems like a hash job.

Thoughts?

Thanks, that makes sense. Although not sure that logic is applied to every extension lol

Say somebody gets a 9+23 at £250 p/m, somebody else gets the same car on 1+23 for £333.33 p/m. They could come back to both people with £300 for the 12 month extension, then the £250 person is getting a £50 per month hike, and the £333.33 person is getting a £33.33 reduction. So whilst there is no actual difference in cost, the person who put the bigger intitial in has their monthlies go up.

Well, the Santander S90 deal works out a couple of grand cheaper over 24 months (pro rata).

I think it's normal practice - I've had two car tax revisions with my current (Lex) car. One was for a tenner and one for (IIRC) £7.

Lex have just done the same to me for my Merc. For £12 I cannot be bothered to go and find the bit of the t&cs I almost inevitably signed agreeing to let them do this smile

The formals should apply some of that logic. i.e. they want £x for the 12 months and divide by 12. its hard to compare with others as the situations are almost always different. Some want more time, same miles, some want more miles and more time.

Plenty of people on here have moaned about their extension being "more expensive" than their current deal until somebody reminds them they paid a massive intiial and then it all makes sense

As a newbie to the leasing game, why? What's the thinking there?
The market and economy has changed. Manufacturers are transitioning to new ownership models. WLTP has thrown a spanner in the works for the devil-may-care attitude to emissions. Production figures are down.
More like the value of the pound has gone down, meaning imported cars (ie most) are more expensive.

Exactly. I'm going to let my Lex financed Merc default onto an informal extension (simply by never arranging to have them pick it up) while I wait for my S90. They told me that my monthlies will go up by exactly the amount I would have been paying on a 1+23 rather than the 3+23 I actually took. Makes perfect sense. Could do without the 2nd service on the Merc but means I can line up the crossover exactly so swings and roundabouts I guess....

Anyone any idea what charges Lex make for kerbed alloys on a Merc?
I'm just leaving them for BCA to bill me for, but I was just wondering if anyone has recent experience.

I assume that’s the 1.5 then? Don’t think the 2.0 petrol has got WLTP approval yet so they are talking potential 6 month (or more) wait on these.
Yeah it's just the entry-level 1.5 petrol Arteon, they are letting me know early this week with more info on lead time..

I may do this......I have a golf-r on a 24 month PCH which i'm quite happy with. While I would like something new just for change I think i've got enough going on in my life and should just stick with it!

Only done 4 out of 10k miles total.

Do they usually bump the monthly rate if you ask? I assume they want to shift new deals rather than keep you on existing ones!
I got a quote to extend my Golf R lease (from Select Car Leasing & Alphabet Finance) which was on 9+23 @ £277pm for 10k miles per year - the renewal almost doubled so sadly it'll be going back in January.

Strangely my friend just got a renewal quote for his S3 (from Alphabet too) which was on a 9+23 @ £330pm for 15k miles - and his came back cheaper than his original price!

Which is probably a reflection of the recent comments regarding limited choice. Let’s hope there are a few tempting deals around the corner.
