VED would be payable on a PCP(cash, HP), it’s usually wrapped up in the price on PCH.

Also for those insurers which replace your car with a new vehicle if written off in the first year, I think they don’t extend this benefit to PCH vehicles.

Certainly for VW, breakdown cover is included on PCH, when it’s only included for the first year on PCP

I am collecting my new car this weekend. Did the whole lease thing, chased phantom deals. Gone for s nearly new car. Pcp on a second hand car: registered june 2018, 9 miles on the clock. Cheaper then any lease deal.

In this case I think you need to post the deal.

I doubt it, I've leased my 2nd hand Z4 for approx £60 p/m.
And I leased my VX220 for 18 months and they paid me £1k overall.

Comparing 2nd hand, regardless of how old it is, is pretty pointless if someone else has already taken the depreciation hit.

If those volvo deals (v90 and s60) are in stock vehicles from a customer of volvo's who didn't want them. They're a custom spec and missing some of the toys normally in that spec.

They need to be gone before the end of the month iirc.

Some of the previous bargain bin V90's were Irish spec
Spill the beans then - whats the story with these?

If its registered June 2018 (last month) with 9 miles on the clock, surely it's just a pre-reg rather than secondhand?

I keep on getting pestered by Stratstone Mini deals, PCP on pre-reg stuff. Some of it is 17-plate with delivery miles, guess been sat on an airfield somewhere for last 12+ months.

As an aside, one of my 'leases' that I found on CH&L was for a Merc CLK (admittedly 9 years ago). It was only when the paperwork came through that it turned out to be a PCP rather than a lease, never bothered me. Was via MB Retail and far cheaper than any MB dealer could at the time when I gave them chance.

So fleet customers under-spec their vehicles and brokers can sell them on without making it clear?

How about its easier and probably cheaper to get out a PCP than a lease before the end of the contract. Particularly important if your circumstances change.

These and of course the aformentioned credit aspect of it. With a lease you arent borrowing the value of the car.

It's only subtle differences and I would have no issue doing the PCP that way if it worked out. But it's still not quite the same as a lease. Oh and possibly one of the big ones is that you do have to deal with sales people!

Hang on, you can lease 2nd hand vehicles?

Where can I lease a 2nd hand Z4 for approximately £60 per month?

Doesn't look too appealing to me, the examples given are 6+12 deals at around £250 a month = £4500 for a year, on a used vehicle. You could probably lease new for less.

Re. the Leon deal mentioned previously, I've gone for what I assume is the same one:

Seat Leon FR 1.8 5dr
3+35 @ £225.70/month
Fully maintained
8k/annum
Seems like a great deal, it's less than I was paying for my 1.4 FR. I just wish they hadn't removed the front parking sensors from the FR spec.

Lease query, as I'm unsure about this - wife's lease car is due to go back in September. We have it on a non-maintained lease so arrange our own servicing etc. The car's been kept in great condition but the rear tyres are getting very low, is this something we'd be expected to change or is it ok to hand the car back as it is? I'd prefer not to shell out £250 for tyres if I don't have to.

I'd have a read through your terms in your contract to see if there is any detail about acceptable tread depths in there. Failing that, call them up and ask them. I did when I returned my first lease and I was told that as long as the tread was above legal limit (1.6mm tread across 3/4 of the central part of the tyre) I was ok. My tyres had 2.0mm of tread left when I returned the car.

The stipulated tread amount may vary from dealer to dealer so I would check.

I have just switched my front and rear wheels around as I am half way through my current lease. Hopefully all tyres will be at 2.0mm when I come to hand back the car.

Cheers, I couldn't see anything in the terms relating to tyres but I'll read through it again in case I missed it.

Sad to see the car go back, we got a fantastic deal on it and I'm struggling to find one to match so will prob just buy a newish used car instead.

Does anyone know what the usually policy is with changing annual milage prior to delivery on cars with a long lead time?

For example, if I order a car with a 6 month wait do I have to fix the milage now or can I wait until nearer the time? I'm currently doing 15,000 a year, but in 6 month that may have changed.

Buy one, use it, sell it and then work out how much per month it has cost you and call it a lease cost.

I was just being flippant regarding someone buying a 2nd hand car on PCP and saying it was cheaper than any lease deal.on a brand new one.
