Friends of mine are looking for a car to buy to spend 2 months travelling round UK, Ireland, France and Spain.

They are a family of four and will have quite a bit of luggage, including camping gear. (So thinking MPV/ Estate/ SUV)

Reliability and reasonable fuel consumption would be preferable.

Budget circa £750-£1000.

They will sell the car when they are done.

What would you get?

Thanks for your help!

A V70, or an E39 touring. Maybe a Saab 9-5, if a decent early one was in budget.

At that price you can't be too fussy and guessing they would be doing about 10k miles in those two months so I'd probably look for a car thats been used well with evidence of plenty of maintenance. A 406 HDI estate would be my choice, something like this....https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263819132504

They ended up with a Zafira...

Judders quite a bit just at 60mph... wheel balancing or bearing maybe? Any thoughts?

It's about the right speed, so yes start with wheel balancing, always try the cheapest fix first!

I'd bzzzzt this particular Jeep as it has been converted to LPG. i.e. can't take it on Eurotunnel, ferries or park it in underground car parks.
