So im quite keen on this Ford Fiesta ST but few things unsure on, its 2017 car thats done 22k in 1 year sold at a dealership, (high milage for 1 year use) also its priced at £11,000 finance options at 1.6k deposit then £164 a month with 4k final payment after 4 years. my income would just about cover it....even though not sure how id pay off final 4k in 4years. other thing about the car is its 1.0 litre (guess they all are now right?) with 140 ps. confused with all this 1 litre stuff now i guess its world of eco crap, my current car is 1.3 to me seems nuts its lower when i was younger always bragging with ya mates what spec car you had tongue out , the wife is begging me to get the car said she love me more if i do, tough choices huh tongue out

The finance is a PCP deal if there is a big payment at the end of it. I recommend you learn the difference between PCP and the more traditional (on a used car) 'hire purchase' finance before you go any further.

My biggest worry is that you say you can just about afford it, don't over stretch yourself, especially on a PCP deal. What if something changes, your insurance goes up, you need to replace an alloy, your Mrs becomes pregnant etc etc?

Apart from that though, they're good cars and it seems reasonable priced.

That's not an ST, it's an ST Line. Totally different cars.

That's not an ST - it's an ST-Line the newer name for the Zetec-s. Not a bad car by any stretch. Looks handsome in a 5 door.

The ST has a 1.6 turbocharged 180bhp unit and slightly different suspension.

That's a 1.0L ST Line Ecoboost - not a full on ST.

As mentioned above, take time to identify the difference between a PCP deal (which you are describing) - and a regular Hire Purchase (HP), depending on your circumstances you will likely find that one is more suited to yourself than the other.

Personally - stretching the income for a PCP is not something I would consider.

Over those 4 years you’re paying nearly 2.5k in interest. Would it be better to get a loan for the full amount over 5 years, if you really really want it?

Don’t know if those engines have changed over the years but an old colleagues 1.0l eco boost engine in his focus needed to be replaced, was about 4 years old at the time, 2012 car.

Get a personal loan. Money is cheap out there at the moment.

hi everyone, thanks for the advise and input....yes it is an pcp , i feel the same price is a stretch prob feel i be better get used improved around 6k mark on a fiesta maybe try get a bank loan (if i can) or save :/ already have an old car dont really wanna go down route of 2nd hand bangers again, plus dont think my wife will stand for it if we get another old banger, either way we plan to keep current old car as we live now quite remote so we feel bit vulnerable having just 1 car as if anything happens to it we are pretty much stranded hence the look out for a newer 2nd car

Damn that's expensive, I bought my 16 plate ST3 at 11K miles for just under 14K when it was just over a year old.

The fact that others have sussed that's not a proper ST (5 door not ST 3 door) suggests to me - walk away.

Why is your wife so keen for you to overstretch yourself and get you into uncontrollable debt? If you can't pay the bills she'll have something else to get on your back about.

Plenty of decent cars around for 5 or 6k.

Exact same spec as I rented from enterprise a few weeks back. 22k in year one sounds like that might be its background

Ask yourself honestly, do you still want to be driving that fiesta in 5 years? It’s a good car but you’re paying a premium for it.

Financing a bog standard supermini when you can "just about stretch to it" just because your wife has daft ideas about cars and their image is stupid, IMHO.

You know they do a 5 door Fiesta ST right? Granted this is not one, but they do make them!

As usual, the salesman is trying to push you into a deal that earns HIM the most commission. Also, have you checked how much the insurance will cost you. Expensive, I should imagine.

A bank loan is a far better way of funding a car purchase. Funding a car through a finance scheme organised by the dealer means that the vehicle REMAINS THE PROPERTY OF THE FINANCE COMPANY until it is ALL paid off. A bank loan means that the bank has NO interest in what you are spending the money on. YOU are the security for a bank loan. The vehicle is the security for a finance company.

As the car you are looking at already has a very high mileage - all you are going to do is make it a lot worse. After 2 or 3 years the equity left in it WILL BE A LOT LESS THAN WHAT YOU OWE ON IT.

Example:- bought for £11000, value after 2-3 years £4500. You STILL owe £6000 on it.

Think on.....

As others have already pointed out, that's a 1 litre ecoboost ST-line, you will need to see the documents to check if it is 100, 125 or 140bhp, it could be any variant. This is completely different to a full fat ST.

Not sure if this is a troll post or not if I am honest though. Anyway, seems expensive. If it was an actual ST at that age and miles then the price isn't bad. I traded in my ST3 Fiesta in 2015, a year old with 21K on clock and got £13.5K for it.

went to see the car today, its 140 ps, basically the guy pushing me to buy it today but was a few finance options to think about, best being £159 a month with a 2k deposit then after 4yrs paying the remaining £4220 off or £191 a month over 5 yrs with nothing to pay off was other deal. insurance going to work out £74 a month as i have to restart on a zero no claims bonus frown because i want to keep the other car so bit annoying, learning how corrupt and money making insurance companies are. wife super keen im more reserved to think things through first tongue out . thing i found annoying at the dealership was the guy pushing me for extra £500 addon for extra 2 year warranty. it has a year and half left on 3yr ford warranty but to me i felt this should be inc anyway given so many deals out there these days of 5 and 7 year warrenty. gave the car a test drive, had a few laughs with me trying figure out how to turn the car on as so used to my 17u year old fista....i see modern cars becoming more dummie proof now with having to hold the clutch down. im sure more dumming down features compared to my old car smile question now is it a good deal, i just wish warrenty was inc for free is my only thing that pisses me off, and is eco engine on ford safe or do they give up fast? as i had a coolant leak few yrs ago my old ford and all repaired but i remember at the time mechanic joked that its good thing not a new ford or be needing a new engine :/ is this joke have some truth?

Why would you want a one year old overpriced 1l ecoboost Fiesta?

For 11k? For real?

The mind boggles

yeah it is crazy money for sure, only because has extra body trims and bigger alloys :/ so stupid prob be cheaper get lower end one and mod it haha, thanks for your input, i feel the same lovely car and really like it but for 11k it feels massively over priced and by time i finished paying it off id of paid total of £13.500 for it because of the extra £2000 interest, this ecoboost st i doubt these cars will live a long life like the old cars, were a few £7000 fiesta which are prob more in budget

I don't think the car is badly priced for a dealer, it's only a year old after all, and they are pretty good cars. However it simply isn't worth stretching you finances to the limit to own it (or to borrow it for 4 years). Have a look around, you can pick up late Zetec-S Fiestas for much less e.g. 2016 31k 125PS Zetec-S £6795
