Latest Data

August 2018 Dataset #3 - Best German Execs

A general overview of current deals on German Executive vehicles:

AUDI A4
AUDI A5
AUDI A6
BMW 3 SERIES
BMW 4 SERIES
BMW 5 SERIES
MERCEDES C-CLASS
MERCEDES E-CLASS

Link: https://docs.zoho.com/file/99qs78507d06f0793445b98...

(Models split onto separate worksheets)

Commentary: Overall prices remain even across all brands, quite unusual given how competitive this sector usually is.
Those expecting pre WLTP bargains may be disappointed, at least 6 of the cheapest E-class deals have already gone.
Perhaps September will yield some bargains.

This thread serves as a supplement to the main leasing deals thread found here:

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... (vol 6)

Purpose
The purpose of this thread is share datasets on the various leasing deals currently in the market.
The main leasing thread above is still the best place for finding the latest 'flash' leasing deals.
Every fortnight I'll post a list of datasets (spreadsheet) that contain the most recent leasing deals on various makes in the market.
This will continue up until December 2018 where we can evaluate if it's been useful.

What's in the dataset?
The dataset will be in the form of a spreadsheet listing leasing deals for a given make/model.
However, you will only see the cheapest deal for each model/trim (unique).

For example... If there are 25 deals on the web for the 'BMW 320d M-Sport Touring', you'll will see only 1 deal in the spreadsheet and this will be the cheapest found.

Each deal includes the total cost over the term and an amortised figure.
Terms are 24 month only (This is the prefered lease term for most on PH).

Who's this for?
It's for everyone, however those who like dealing with stats are likely to find these datasets useful if not for historical pricing.
For example, you may find what you think is a great deal from the main leasing thread, and then use these spreadsheets to compare against other makes/models to determine if the value is good.

How do I view/download it
Click on the links supplied to view an online version of the sheet. I recommend downloading the Excel file and using that... sometimes the 'deal links' are not clickable through the web version!

Note: I will likely remove old datasets, so please download your own copies if you would like historical records.

Limitations
  • As mentioned earlier, the main leasing thread is the go to for the latest flash deals. Every fornight new datasets will be posted, but as the days go by the leasing market will move and the deals listed may no longer be valid.
  • There is a limited data source, I have plans to expand this but will wait for a review in December 2018.
  • It isn't feasible at this stage to get datasets on every make and model, so instead I will alternate between different makes/models every fortnight.

This will be fantastic. Are you manually maintaining it, or have you written some kind of web crawler?

Thanks

That's amazing
Have you thought about putting filters on the excel sheets?

I have some tools to help automate things, but the real clever stuff is getting all the data together and performing complex queries so that we're left with the good stuff.

I interact with the data through other tools, not Excel. The data is copied to Excel so that it can be shared with everyone.
The Excel sheets are not maintained, I'll always publish new files for the 'latest' data.

If you want to download the Excel file, just click on File > Export As > Excel Workbook.

Indeed. I originally thought I'd leave it to users to do, but then realised perhaps not everyone will know how.

It is possible for me to apply filters to the online sheet, however you won't be able to use them because ZOHO won't allow it in read-only mode.

You'll need to download it:

FILTERING

Download the workbook:
  • Load up one of the Excel worksheets from the links above.
  • Download the file by clicking on File > Export As > Excel Workbook.
  • Open the file in Excel on your computer.
Create Filters:
  • Select column A and then drag all the way to column Q
  • Once selected, from the toolbar click Data > Filters
  • Done - you should now be able to filter each column as needed.
Note: I've added filters to some of the sheets above so you won't have to create them.

Well to be honest this is a lot more 'fun' than my usual game of scrabble. biggrin

Great work. Only suggestion I would make is perhaps combine into one file.
If you’re in market for any of above three examples then you’re likely to consider at least one of the other two.
People can always filters, as discussed already.

Moving forward, maybe even have the historical ones on separate tabs in same file or all archived into one separate file.

Appears leasing.com don't have the Santander deals anymore? pretty sure I was quoted £543 on an XC90 T5 8k which is about £600 cheaper than your spreadsheet but fantastic resource. Kodiaq is dirt cheap.

This is fantastic - really useful and way beyond my primitive IT skills, so thanks for taking the time to share.

If it's not too cheeky, any chance you could add BMW X5, RR Sport and Velar?

Thanks again

This is great! I’d also add the F-Pace deal at Jaguar Heritage..:

£399 initial
47 x 399
No fee

Appreciate the feedback, thanks smile

I'll be rotating car categories/classes on each release.

Will look at adding the requested models upon the next large suv release, by then the market should get more interesting post WLTP etc.

Expect the next dataset to land around bank holiday, feel free to subscribe/bookmark.

Great work, really appreciate it, both the time and the skill.
Another suggestion, if not too much work, is if you can output the full list of deals on CH&L into one file (yes it'd be a big one). Yes. Every.Single.Car!

The reason is, many of us in the search for a good deal are a bit agnostic as to what make/model it is as long as it meets some basic criteria.
The main one being cost.

So if I could filter on my monthly budget then filter on some of the brands models I would consider then I'm able to see a lot more of what potential deals there are within my budget. Anybody who wants a specific brand or an SUV for e.g can still filter on them.

It would also save you having to write a new post each week targeting a specific Make/car segment. Just upload the latest file.

Would appreciate your thoughts on this

I have tried that but unfortunately the server imposes a temporary ban if too many requests are made in a short period of time.

To do so manually would take even longer, which is time I do not have.

This is why going forward I will publish datasets based on a particular theme.

Hi

That is unfortunate. It must be a bug with the ZOHO sheets, you could try download the excel file and open it through a spreadsheet app on iOS?
