Hi guys

2 series coupe petrol or merc c220 diesel coupe 14-15 ish plate

I have a choice of above two cars. Which one is more reliable and hassle free? Are there any luxury rivals available? Merc does look a lot better inside and out!

The two cars don't seem to be equivalent models? A C-Class is usually pitted against a 4 Series rather than a 2.

Any reason why you would opt for a petrol BMW but a diesel Mercedes? How many miles do you do?

There isn't a smaller merc coupe.

According to reviews, petrol bmws coupes are more fun and better sounding. Merc diesels do OK.

I like these two cars. Don't like the bigger bmw's

I do about 6k miiles a year

A CLA is a coupeish thing, but that's another discussion for another time.

Each to their own, so I'll wait for others to voice their opinions, but 6k does not sound anywhere near enough miles to avoid DPF issues unless you do regular motorway mileage. I've never owned a diesel so I can't comment any further.

about 10 - 14k. But surely, you could pay an extra to get it done with the service? Doesn't cost much?

OP, for 6K miles a year whatever you decide to get I'd stick to petrol.

That way you will avoid DPF issues, and there does seem to be a growing dislike of diesels in cities these days (although that may not affect you, it may affect resale later).

Still it's good to see someone managing to have 2 RWD alternatives these days! laugh

You are barely going to notice the extra money saved buying a diesel over petrol at 6k miles a year. Get a petrol and be tractor engine free as a bonus

You're spending £14k. Travel to get the right car and enjoy driving it home.

Oh, and I'd go petrol E Class coupe. Diesel could just cause problems and will not save you money. The E Class is also a step up in quality and is relatively rare. I like the 2 series, but only in the higher spec variants which will be out of your price range.

As above just travel, I live down in the SE & had to travel up to near Inverness to get my E500, it was a great drive home though. smile

I also agree the E Class would be my pick.

We looked at that shape c class as it was s good looking thing, till we sat inside and it’s full of plastics more at home in a 80s fiesta, it all felt very cheap
