Payments will be higher over 3 years to match the depreciation curve.
Ah. I see. Thanks
Ive heard that people often swap their 48 month PCP car at the 36 month mark and still break even. My best mate swapped her Fiesta Zetec at 23 months in a 37 month PCP and had £500 positive equity to carry into her new ST Line. It ultimately depends on what the car is worth after 3 years against what was financed - in this case due to the huge deposit contribution I reckon you would be in a half decent position.

Honestly depends what depreciation is like so depends on the car. However, around 36 months is about the time when you'll find you're not in too much negative equity. The first 12-18 months is spent paying off the finance interest, so until around 36 months you will most likely be in negative equity. As you say though, deposit contributions from the manufacturer and dealer can offset this and sometimes turn it around completely. If you can start another PCP without carrying any negative equity over then you'll be in a much better position on your next go around, otherwise your payments start to creep up every time until you're forced to either wipe out the negative equity yourself or find a deposit for your next one.

PCP wise, if you've given a deposit / part-exchange that you own to get your monthly payments down, it might be worth to just save a few quid on top of your payments so that you have a deposit for your next one. This is a mistake that a lot of people make whereby they part-exchange their 5 year old car that's paid off for a brand new more expensive car on PCP but are then surprised when their payments double on their next PCP.

This is a PCH lease not PCP.

Asked some people in the know and the 335d will lose approximately 45% of it's on the road value in 12 months. Now obviously that doesn't take into account the huge discount you get but if you're a serial changer you need to keep it in mind-this is a four year deal so you may need to let the deal run.

On the Velar deal, some figures I confirmed with Stratstone for the better spec'd SE but with higher miles...

R-Dynamic SE D180
- initial deposit £4,000
- 10k mpa
- 48 months
- £414 p/m
- £32,353 GMFV

R-Dynamic SE D180
- initial deposit £493
- 10k mpa
- 48 months
- £493 p/m
- £32,353 GMFV

It seems only the D180 has the current deals on (discounted price and reduced apr) as other specs (D240/D275/D300) did not benefit from these.

Was very tempted but the D180 just wouldn't cut it performance wise for me personally. So will look to see if there any future offers on the higher powered 3l diesel engines.

As I posted yesterday however, I think JLR will be getting more desperate in Q1 next year so will be incentivising their stock more heavily then. Same with the 4 series by BMW as it will be getting replaced after the 3 series as usual.
It could go the other way if manufacturers back off production as JLR has done.

It could be, but then if production is cut they’ll have to sweat every single unit they make which makes me think they’ll want every deal across the block to count.

These don't look bad for cheap runabouts..

APR's aren't great but there doesn't seem to be much else under £150 per month unless you put a hefty deposit down.

I saw some Velar numbers on another website and assumed the OP had messed up his/her figures

A 50k car on PCP with a GFV of 35k after 4y, ha ha, do me a favour...

However a visit to the JLR website had me eating my words

Astonishing......
Metallic paint is £725 minimum but doesn't enhance much to the GFMV. My dad is going to price one up tomorrow in free recession white.
Did your Dad go in after and price it up?

I am looking to pull the trigger on a D180 R-Dynamic SE in Fuji White @ 10k mpa over 4 years. Only thing currently holding me back is coming from an F80 M3 CP to the D180 so need to test drive to see if I can live with one.

However I did contact a local LR dealer (not Stratstone) to see if they would match it. They said they cant and that Stratstone cannot actually do the deal either, said it was either a mistake or a strategy to get enquiries.

Our local dealership said the same but then I guess they would, wouldn't they?

My local dealer also said they can’t match it but he knew of people who got the deal so the deal was real.

Well that's good news, was hoping to get confirmation of this or someone ordering.

I do find it slightly odd that Stratstone are offering the lower APR though, I would have thought that was JLR finance driven and not the franchises? Or do they do their own finance?

Been looking at a family pool car now we have a 17y old on L's, naturally insurance is a major factor but also would like something slightly bigger than the usual choice tinies

Currently considering a boggo engined Fabia in SE spec for £500 down and just under £140/month through a number of dealers via Carwow. Term is 4y and mileage 8000/year

Seems OK to me if unexciting but am keen to hear what you've been offered in this sector or what I've forgotten to consider

PCP rather than lease mandated due to the learner driver

Cheers

Yes, he went and got a quote but they offered a dismal part ex for the Evoque so my dad isn't sure what to do. The car wouldn't be ready until January so that's something else to consider.

Yes I would assume given the offer that they would not offer very good p/ex terms unfortunately.

Has your Dad tried the likes of WBAC and Tootle? As they can provide some comparative figures to play with.

He's had a few quotes now for selling the Evoque and another Stratstone has offered a better part ex in fact. He is veering away from the Velar due to the high road tax. The Discovery Sport Landmark is very well specced at £399 down £399 a month but also the list price sneaks under £40k by coppers if you choose the flat black.

Bloody hell, I totally missed the Discovery Sport on the website and I looked for it too! Just completed all the paperwork on something else I don't really want!
