Just about to pull the trigger on one of these. It’s a 2011 with 53k on the clock, full Audi service history and absolutey mint. The wife has really been complaining to me about spending too much money on a car £17k and then this came along at £11k.

Anything I should worry about ( Tiptronic)

Had a 10 plate A4, it pretty much imploded at around 70k

DPF - Audi wanted to replace, I got it cleaned
Turbo at same time, oil leak, probably caused DPF issue
EGR valve
Numerous electrical issues, passenger vanity light wouldn't turn off leading to flat battery, drivers side vanity light just didn't work
Nice BBS wheels that look cack after a couple of winters, stupid diamond cut finish

and the final straw:

Rear diff failure, garage said they'd only seen one other ever go and that was on a high mileage allroad. Scored one from a breakers in Latvia, had it fitted, drove straight to trade in.

Well rid. Great car though.

Here is the other side of the story - I run an A6 Allroad variant 3.0tdi 245 for 4 years and 45k miles

One sensor replaced 100quid from ebay fitted in 5 mins

Usual brake pads front and back 80 quid and fitted in 2 hrs

Buy a VCDS so you can scan your own fault codes and save money

Mine has an intermittent electronic hand brake fault to the right hand motor - it’s most likely a loose or corroded connector but until it plays up consistently am leaving it alone

Great car - Uber comfortable and quick (but heavy in the corners)

Had mine over 5 years and did 65k in it, great car but I obviously had a lemon that self destructed. Still on the road apparently, I probably fixed all the expensive stuff.

Got a GTD currently and at 60k miles I'm getting a bit twitchy, DSG is starting to be pretty notchy.

I've had one of these for almost 4 years, and in that time it has gone from 67k to almost 151k. Mine is a 2011 A6 3.0TDi Quattro, special edition.

It has averaged 33-34 mpg, and outside of normal servicing and maintenance, the crank pulley went at around 130k (cost £600 to fix along with replacing diesel pump belt), and I have just had to replace the EGR (£1100). Other than that, everything still works, the engine is strong and feels like it will last.

Major service is around £400, oil service around £100.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Cheers for replies. There is always a lemon about in all brands.

It is utterly mint and everything works. I am hoping with 53k on the clock I will have many trouble free miles in it like I have in my current Volvo D5 that has gone from 60k to 133k with zero problems

I am considering putting a map onto to it to improve mid range

I am so pleased with the car. It is mint!

Locally we have an Audi specialist who as assured me they are solid cars and I should have many trouble free miles.

The main point he made was never to use supermarket fuel! It has never had supermarket fuel in it so I will make sure I don’t follow suit. He has replaced numerous EGRs etc due to st fuel.

Whilst i was there I had it remapped. Holy moly is shifts with ease, I bloody love it.

They are great cars, I have a 2007 Saloon which is on 98k but still goes like a train, no def to worry about and massive brakes which stop it rapidly.

I have had my 1st issue with the car.....had a failed bulb warning for the central brake light which is a sealed LED unit. Luckily after a wiggle and bang it started working again, but something to look out for as I am sure it will fail again.

Full led sealed unit is approx £40 - replaced ours on our 2011 A6 last year took 15 minutes to fit.

That's good news, I did check out youtube and it appeared to be a complete ball ache as you had to remove the entire internal trim from boot lid to get to it from the inside. Did you somehow prize it out from the outside?
