To receive the highly lauded ZX10R NIN guidance. Other posters are welcome too!
Buying next month to capitalise on slow sales.
Budget: 25-29k
Spec: larger saloon, e class size. 5000 miles a year so petrol preferred but happy to take a punt on a diesel. Auto essential. Not fussy at all about spec but must be a 2018 / late 2017 car, sub 15k miles. Ideally with a reverse camera.
Obvious options are E/5er/A6/GS
Smaller saloon not out of scope if it means it’s a bit more special. SUV/hatch can be ok. Estates definite no.

Slightly older. But it does have a 6.4 litre Hemi!

When I bought my e class (late ‘17) there were two eclass petrol models available, the e43 or e63. Very PH but not great for your requirements. When I looked petrols were few and far between so you will struggle to get a Merc eclass/5 series/A6 petrol that fits your budget. Almost everything out there is diesel. Good luck!

It’s gotten a little better in terms of petrol I’d say, a6 has a fair few 2018 petrol, 5er also, still massively diesel however. E class is still totally diesel in the used market apart from fast models as you say. Thanks for the luck! Well I hope I don't disappoint with my selection, one thing though in order to get the much more interesting petrol engines (rather than an inline4 with a turbocharger) also the mileage can be limiting option, now I've got the excuses out of the way I'll kick off with my wildcard first & it's this:
Infiniti Q50 3.5h Sport Tech these are a very good car with a sweet 320bhp V6 & a little bit of Hybrid (0-60 in the 5's) power to boot
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
2.0T Giulia Veloce only a 4 pot but a good option
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
XF V6 S these are a bit of a budget stretch but that V6 is hard to ignore
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
1.8T A6 S Line (these don't seem like good value to me)
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
530i M Sport one of the better 4 pots but they'll depreciate like a stone
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
GS300h I couldn't recommend this over the Infiniti
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
I have to say with your requirements you really are limited as to the type of car you can get, is there any movement at all on the mileage or year?
With your criteria the car I'd be looking at first & foremost is the Q50 followed by the Alfa, if you can change your criteria a bit then it would be the CLS400/XF as they both possess (I'd actually recommend the Hyundai Genesis but there are none for sale) good 3.0T/S engines
Leftfield:
CLS400

Last but not least your annual mileage is too low to consider a diesel.
I hope this has helped that was a tough one.

Im not going to suggest any diesels for you due to very little mileage but here's my contributions (Some are 17 dunno if they are early or not)

My money? Id loosen my parameters a little and buy something that's depreciated little more otherwise from the list above Id struggle to look past the Jags (but knowing me, buy the 340i)

That is fking excellent, shame it doesn't have a manual transmission!https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...
It would be difficult to look past the XF
2017 2.0T petrol 250bhp
https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...
V6
https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...
The drive very well, light and the 2.5t moves.
However if you have this budget I would not by used rather seriously look at a new XF R sport 2.5T. All the standard spec needed. At the moment Jag are desperate to shift them before the end of Nov / Dec and have great offers with 0% APR
https://www.jaguar.co.uk/jaguar-range/xf/offers/in...
With 0% APR, put 5K down, save the rest. Pay the monthly's and either pay of the PCP early or let it run its course handing back or purchasing it.

Another left field choice as i think it fits the brief and that is -
Volkswagen Arteon 2.0 TSI 280 R Line 5dr 4MOTION DSG
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
Second choice - though other posts are correct in that you don't need a diesel but - i do like very much the Volvo s90 -
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
and whilst it may be a bit of a stretch on your budget finally the Kia Stinger - for 33k you can manage a 2017 3.3T
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
Good luck with your search.

Petrol, check; automatic, check; reversing camera, check; SUV, check.
Got to be a Mitsubishi Outlander I think. 5000 miles probably all on elctrickery if you are careful.
I know, I've got a sick sense of humour.
Don't you like the Jag then?

Nope I’m not loving Jag at the moment so thanks but no thanks to the well intended suggestions above.
Infiniti is interesting as is S90 for sure.
ZX10R NIN, this was everything I hoped for, and more. I will return to hassle you again in approximately 5 years time.
Reckon you could just about get a petrol S90 in budget

Glad to have helped for me the Infiniti only loses out to the Volvo on space as the S90 is huge everywhere else the Q50 shades it although test drives are the only way of knowing for sure.Nope I’m not loving Jag at the moment so thanks but no thanks to the well intended suggestions above.
