Maybe I'm being stupid, but surely for tyres to be made/sold in the UK they must meet certain regs? Even the cheapest brand are going to meet them. Everyone seems to think if its a cheap brand they are going to die at the first bend.
You’re right. But go on a cooking forum and tell a top foodie that frozen chicken from farm foods is as good as organic, corn fed from Waitrose. Both will meet the min uk food regs so are both equal.I ran cheap tyres for years then switched to top quality ones. I wouldn’t have believed the difference until I tried premium ones.
Well, it's always recommended that you don't mix brands for optimum performance. It's not a matter of whether they 'suffice'. I could've just kept my Polo GTI or bought the standard 208 GTI if I didn't care about handling.
I'd be less annoyed if they were premium tyres, but £50 budget tyres that are notorious for being st in the wet are not going to be the best choice for a spirited drive round the twisty country roads where I live.

How are you going to prove that they weren’t on there when you viewed it?
Well, it said on the report that they'd changed them and the guy mentioned it to me. I can't ultimately prove it but it's surely better for them to spend halfhour putting on the right ones than to end up with a pissed off customer. AllDayBreakfast said:

My company lease car had to have new fronts not long before it went back and they put Ceat tyres on it. Anything more than gentle braking triggered the ABS when I’d never had that happen before.DoubleD said:

I think this thread should be in the "first world problems" forum
Why?It's hardly important is it.
Are they legal, are they the same on the same axle, if so he should be grateful they didn't leave shot tyres on it that he didn't spot were st when he decided the car was acceptable.
IF he really pushes it I'm sure they can find him some worn out ones of the brand he desires. But I'm not clear how that will be an improvement.
Sigh, buy real tyres, score some $ back putting the ditchfinders on gumtree etc.
It's a dick move but I find it hard to blame the dealer from his perspective, if he'd sold the car with tyres borderline he risks customer raging at him/ blaming him for an accident. If he fits premium half the idiots wouldn't appreciate it so it eats his margin, but if he goes to the complication of offering you better tyres if you pay extra the same idiots would be demanding he fit proper tyres at no extra cost. Stick on new cheap st tyres, legally covered.
The mrs e46 coupe had acceleras on the back when I picked it up, fking lethal.
