Considering a B5 Alpina saloon as an occasional drive and to add to a collection. Far too much choice and value for money out there at the minute with amg’s and other variants both estate and saloon versions being so affordable. Tempted by an M3 cls with residual values in mind but always wanted a super saloon. Other than the limited edition Alpina’s does anyone have any thoughts on Modern Alpina values going forward?

Don’t see any reason they won’t fall at the same % as the M cars.

Are these not now built on the bmw production lines?

I had heard that some models had found their way on to the production line. Just wondered whether the fact that so few variants were produced annually that in time they may at least hold their values as have some early series M models.

In the short / medium term I’d expect a B5 to mirror an M5.

Alpinas are partially built on the production line where it makes sense and then taken away and finished at Alpina’s own factory.

As for residuals, Alpina always command more due to their relative rarity. Their are 1,743 BMW M3/M4/M5/M6 currently on Autotrader. Compared to a total of 84 Alpinas.

Alpina values are pretty solid & they're a different car from their M counterparts, what B5 were you looking at?

There is a 2011 B5 that is advertised on this site with a fairly high spec interior for around 30k
