Morning all

Love hearing some of your ideas for cars so here it goes.... 10k to spend although for something special I might be able to stretch to 11k. I want something with plenty of toys, a good stereo, refined for dual carriageway driving and still have plenty of poke,

I have had a long list of hot hatches over the last 5-6 years with the most recent a Megane RS250. Loved the car but just fancied a change and got sick of the dreadful stereo.

Hasn't got to be practical, would like it to be capable of 25mpg +. Petrol or diesel but must have a turbo! But nothing is off the table at this stage.

Cars I am currently considering are, Jaguar XFS, BMW Z4, Audi TTS, BMW 535d, BMW 120d M sport. As you can see quite a diversity, please feel free to give feedback on those cars and give me any suggestions

TIA

I think you should decide what size of car as well as your thoughts are quite varied ie Audi TT vs 5 series
For motorway I would be tempted for a larger car 3/5 series size

The XFS or 535d would be my first choice out of that list, especially for motorway stuff.

I'd have just upgraded the stereo £1000 would give you great sound quality, where do you do most of your miles?

It may not be turbo/supercharged but the 370Z is very hard to ignore:

You won't get an XFR for your budget but you can get a SV8:

No turbo but a Z4M is an option:

Or if it has to have a turbo Z4 35si but I wouldn't consider it a better car then the Z4M above:

I've only had any experience of 2 of the cars you mention, so cannot comment on the others.

But you might struggle to find a good Z4 35i or 35is in your budget - but they do have 2 turbos!

Anyway I've got a Z4 Coupe 3.0Si and you would find a good one of those within budget, although if you don't mind a Roadster you might get an M Roadster or an excellent 3.0Si with a chunk of change - although none of those has any turbo (but they don't really need one)!

I had a 123d for over 6 years but sold it to get the Z4 Coupe 4+ years ago.

The 123d was pretty quick for a 4 cylinder diesel, but the performance of the Z4 is on a totally different level so you might be disappointed with a 120d. Plus if it has the N47 engine it might be best avoided - google "N47 camchain". That's one of the reasons I sold my 123d.

Mind you the 123d did average 48+ mpg, but then my Z4 is averaging 33+ so I'm more than happy with that!

For a bit of B road fun I'd pick the Z4, but for a comfy motorway cruise the 123d worked better - although I'm guessing some of the other options like the XFS might be better still.

Thank you for your inputs so far! Will definitely have a look at some of the suggestions! Z4 & Jaguar XF definitely seem to be winning the race at the moment. Strange I know as they are polar opposite cars!
