After a miserable day out to look at a polished turd yesterday I'm after a 2 seater convertible. Budget is £10k

Not really any other requirements but it must be relatively reliable and quick, petrol and a manual.

Any ideas?

No MX5's please

There's a really nice looking 4.3 Chimaera on the Facebook TVR buy and sell page. £10.5k in Doncaster. Can't link it though. frown

So the Boxter is not reliable? Are you speaking of older generations? And only Boxter as opposed to also the basically the same Cayman?

Yes, they're woefully unreliable for the price you pay, which in this case would be £10K because that's what the OP put as his budget in his thread title and hist first post.

And I'd not suggested the Cayman because, unlike you, I read the thread title and first post by the OP where he said he wanted a convertible

Why the hostility? Lack of self confidence?

I was merely asking if the Boxter was unreliable as I have never heard it had such a reputation. But then again I don't keep up with Porsches. And since as far as I know the Cayman is basically the same car with a hard fixed roof, I was wondering if the unreliability extends to the Cayman as well. I didn't suggest the Cayman to the OP. I was trying to learn something new. Not doubting you.

Lay off the caffeine, or maybe take some Karate or whatever can boost your self confidence so you don't have to snap at unknown people on internet forums to make you feel better.

to be honest DRVR your post did have an annoying smugness about it, I can understand the chap's response.

This is why I try to never assume anything from the written word. Because the tone can be highly subjective. Unless explicitly written, things like snide, sarcasm etc can be seen where there is none or missed. Like I said, I was genuinely asking. I never heard Boxters were unreliable. What is the problem with them by the way? Even the newest generation has problems?

To be honest this surprises me as I have heard several times Porsche put out the best cars out of Germany for built quality and reliability etc.

Can see Alfa Spider was mentioned in a list earlier. I really like mine, and in the ~20 months I've owned it, it's been very reliable. It's an 11 year old car but absolutely everything works perfectly on it.

On the other hand, one of the OPs requirements was "quick" - it's not bad, but not sure it would be described that way.

It is a lot better looking than some of the other suggestions though.
