I know there are thousands of post 's like this but I couldnt find an answer for my case so help would be appreciated.
So I'm 18, about to pass my test. Is there a chance I can insure a 1.9tdi octy under 3k? I will have to drive a lot as I'm helping my parents and due to my job so I need a diesel and space. Octy would be perfect, but I'm not sure if I will be able to get a quote under 3k.
Has anyone managed to insure a group 14 or 15 diesel at such age with no ncb?

Cheers in advance. Please don't flame on me, I get that diesel is not ideal as first, but situation makes it required.

Onbly way to answer that question is to run quotes; Try the cars you're looking at with details similar to your own - Approximate location, etc and see what you get.

Depending on location, I'd say sub 3k should be doable; What year were you thinking of? Look for trims with standard fit safety features like parking sensors and reversing cameras and auto braking, as these will drop your premiums in many cases (And insurance groups)

Edit: One thing that goes in your favour; I don't imagine there are many aspirational footballers rolling them into ditches 5 up with mates

My younger brother had a 2003 Polo 1.9TDI as his first car a 17 years old. cost the same to insure as my first car a 2006 1.2 64hp Polo. Check the insurance group.

I'm thinking mk1 as I like the look of it better. I think the ambiente trim level has parking sensors. Abs and esp is there too. Don't really wanna get an mk2 as the bxe engine like to cough it's conrod trough the block wall and it's more expensive to buy anyway while it's the same group. Thx for the tips tough, you gave me some courage to actually roll with it and try. Cheers smile
