I’m looking at buying a VW Golf R from BCA early next year and am trying to find out historic prices to see what they go for, does anyone know if this information is available anywhere?

Also has any had experience with exporting a car with them and would like to share their experience?

Thanks

If you register on their website I'm sure you can look at auction results.

I could tell you for certain but forgotten my password :-(

Be VERY careful about buying anything from BCA. The days have long gone, (about 30 of them), when buying through BCA was a good idea.
BCA have learnt, over the years, that the Joe Public that turn up at the auctions THINK that the word "auction" infers that whatever the car sells for under the hammer MUST be cheap. No they ain't.......any more.
The fees they charge, on top of the hammer price, makes the whole exercise expensive. Quite often, more expensive than if you had popped down to your local main dealer and bought the same car, (with all the associated warranty, tax, fuel etc.,), thrown in with the price.
It isn't till after you drive out of BCAs premises that you realise, within a week or so, that buying a car through auction ....was a bad idea.

What Datum said.

It's usually cheaper to buy privately. The benefits are that you have longer to check the vehicle over and also get to meet the previous owner to gauge what type of a person they are.

Auctions suit dealers because they don't have to drive around to buy individual cars and even if the prices are slightly higher, they make money on finance deals to offset the slightly higher prices. Furthermore, high volume buyers pay lower fees than Joe Public too.

Thanks for the input. For me as I would be exporting the car I would only be interested in the VAT Q cars as I can claim the VAT back and there are more in one place at an auction rather than the odd one at a dealer.
