Had my M140i for a year now - I’m so pleased with it. Genuinely can’t think of another car that’s better for the money! Mines black with oyster leather. I bought it when it was 2 years old and had 35k miles on the clock (a relatively high mileage example)!

In terms of ownership experience...

I recently changed all 4 tyres from Michelin Pilot Super Sports to Michelin Pilot Sport 4’s. It’s made a huge difference, the PS4’s are much better suited to the car with everyday driving. At £450 for 4 tyres fitted I consider this to be great value for money too. It’s amazing how reasonable the running costs are when considering the capability of the car.

I had the second service carried out a few months ago too. This is a ‘major’ service including spark plugs etc. This came to £400 at a local independent specialist - again, pretty good value.

I also bought a JB+ which is fantastic bang for buck. Has really improved low down power. Car is running around 370hp now.

Also added 12mm spacers at the front and 15mm at the rear - has really improved looks.

Take a look at Royal Steering Wheels too - I’ve gone for an alcantara wheel which is slightly thicker than standard. Feels really nice in your hands, made a big difference!

I’ve averaged 27.5mpg over 8000 miles - perfectly reasonable for a turbocharged 3.0L RWD car capable of keeping up with almost anything on our roads!

Interesting to hear that. They seem to getting a pretty big following off the back of Joe Achilles and TRL.

Their prices for some stuff seems high (e.g. the springs especially with no alignment included). I’m planning on just enjoy my car with maybe the odd very easily reversible tweak. It’s easy to get dragged into it needing this and that.
That is why they get a big following. Joe has a big following for the market.

TRL finances Motech parts into PCP deals. Questions have been asked how this will be viewed by BMW for warranty and finance.

It's clear they are all working in cahoots for the benefit of each other.

Cahoots or working together to offer something others don't? Having worked at a BMW main dealer I think it's quite refreshing they offer something for the enthusiast.

Most places don't check alignment when fitting springs/spacers.

They aren't offering anything you can't get done at numerous other places.

The only unique thing about it is you can add all the stuff to your finance package and have the car ready to pick up in one go. The downside is obviously you are paying Motech prices for inferior products and setup, then obviously financing the cost too.

I don't see it as refreshing at all. A BMW main dealer should not be selling modified cars that are in breach of the finance agreement and warranty. Even though TRL is selling the Motech parts he has said the warranty is with Motech and not him which doesn't sit right.

Sticking a few modified parts on a car and putting Motech labels and numbering the cars is a bit tacky in my opinion.

That looks lovely and good to hear that it’s been pretty painless with regards to running costs. I’m probably going to get he service pack because I reckon I’ll just get both services in within the three years.

A trip to Royal is very high on my list and wrapping the wing mirrors / canards because they don’t look great on a white car.

It's not for most people. Very few people will ever get a second service out of it and the brake fluid change isn't included. It will just be the first service and oil top ups if required.

If you do a lot of commuting and get good economy the car will go as far as 25,000 miles before needing a service.

I’m gong to get it bearing in mind they’re the same price near enough; service pack is £299 if bought within 60 days of registration and the first service at my local dealership was the same price. I should just about sneak the second service in three years so it’s worth a punt.

Well we've pulled the pin on one woohoo

Spec is as follows :-

Shadow Edition
5 door
Auto
Burnt Orange (or whatever the formal name is)
Full black leather
Electric seats
Folding mirrors
Heated seats
Front parking sensors
Pro Media
Anthracite Alloys.

I think theres maybe a couple more things it has as additions but i cant remember them.

We have a need for an automatic and a 5 door.

Its a built car, so the dealer needs to confirm he can get it. That probably wont happen to Monday now.

Total discount £10,500

I thought that was really good for to be from a local dealer. In fact the closest one to us.

The demo car drove fantastically well

If all goes to plan should have it in a couple of weeks. Well pleased with it. TBH at that price its a no brainer and wayyyy cheaper than the direct competition and head and shoulders above other cars at that price.

Yes, really buzzing about getting ours. Should be here in a couple of weeks. Will post pics up.

The original plan was to trade in the Cooper S but getting low ball offers so we've decided to hang on to it.

Chuffed you are hanging onto the Cooper S and I still love mine loads. I do keep considering a change but it keeps raising a smile for me for sure. Looking forward to the pics. smile

Cheers buddy.

I hope so. Weirdly I think I’m going to miss the practicality of my vRS. It’s a dull car, but my god it’s hood for dull things like lugging the child and his stuff, chucking the dog in and carting mountain bikes about.

The 140 is compromised from that point of view, but at this point I don’t care. It’ll be the fastest car that I’ve owned to date and hopefully won’t bankrupt me like an E90 M3 would have the potential to.

Yes, it was the one downside to the proposed situation - we'd lose the MINI which we both love frown

So not gutted about keeping it - will keep it nicely polished up and buzz about it in it at the weekends when i am home and have free time. Being a contractor my circumstances change with each contract. Current one runs to Aug so i might have a requirement for a car then anyway if my next contract is on this landmass (N Ireland)

I still cant get over the massive discounts that are available.

Have BMW an order commitment for the 3.0i engine and thus are blowing the M140i out cheap to get rid? Seems odd theres so much incentive to sell specifically that model. confused

Or are they just trying to piss on Mercedes chips with the A35 just out and are making the M140i so much cheaper to stop the A35 selling in numbers?

Certainly not complaining but the pricing seems way out of kilter with the market. We've an M140i for considerably less than a Golf GTI 5 door auto let alone a Golf R....

The huge discounts were always available on the M135i and then M140i. It's not a short term offer.

The M140i is selling much faster than the M135i did. I'm sure at that time many were taking the cheap Golf R leases, but now the M140i is the cheapest option.
