The Cupra interior looks pretty poor in comparison to the golf in my view. I think the main issue I’m having is the price of current deals though. Im in a golf gti now that was an initial two year lease on 6+23 for £229 a month. I extended the deal for 6 months and currently paying just £118 a month! Might look to pick up something used in the absence of any decent leases.

Struggling to see any golf gti dsg lease deals for anything less than £275 a month with 9 months upfront. Anyone seen anything cheaper? Uchoosecontracts see, to be the best I have seen.
How badly do you want a Golf?

The Leon Cupra deals are the ones to have at the moment...

This is what happens when you limit yourself to a very specific car/spec unfortunatley.

Even cheaper on their website?

9*24 is a bit weird but worth an enquiry.
Made the enquiry. It’s legit. Base option is white so upgrade to a nice colour is an extra 30pm. Forgot to ask on the mileage as I’d need around 15-20k per year. Do these things tend to be a game changer with monthly cost ?

I’m open to all sorts of cars. The GTI is an obvious one to explore as I have one now.

As well as getting a quote on the additional mileage, find out what the excess mileage cost is. You may find that it works out the same cost, and you don't need to commit to the higher spend then! Also, if it's VWFS they might let you 'upgrade' the package if you find yourself doing more miles.

Correct it’s the toureg 3.0TDI 286PS V6 R-LINE 5DR AUTO.

Which option would you go for?

9+23 x £403.20 (£13,502)
Or
9+35 x £435.60 (£19,766)

Many thanks. I have ordered the XC90 @ £599 but think this is a more attractive car and better value.

A closer look reveals these are business prices.
The monthly payment on the £600 + 9 + 23 personal deal is £403.20 - over the term it works out at £13,502.

Looking on their website ( https://www.contractcars.com/car-leasing/deal/volk...) it seems that these figures are for an Tourareg R-Line with the more powerful V6 diesel (286PS) which costs £55,235 - Works out at 24.5%, decent deal.

I'd personally go for the 2 year deal. Lower monthly in this case and the freedom to get a new car after 2 years rather than 3.
I don't know what the service intervals are like on the Touraeg, but a shorter lease means you'll also save money not needing to get it serviced as often or at all in some cases.

ummm why would you go for 3 years? even if you give me an essay on everything that could be positive about that deal, cheaper will always be better right? or am i missing something.

Not necessarily. Factoring in total lease cost, the 3 year deal is slightly cheaper in relation to duration. You are driving an older car for the third year though and I can’t ever imagine wanting to be tied to the same car for that long.

Isn’t the SEL version a better ‘deal’?

Anything missing on the SEL version from the R line apart from visual upgrades ?

My rationale for going for the 3 year was that the deposit would last me longer. However I guess many people would consider this rationale flawed on the basis that the cost of going for the 3 year lease is

1. The additional services/tyres (I always take a 3 years lease and the tyres needs replacing without fail at around 30 months)
2. £1166.40 extra over 3 years taking into account the monthly cost difference between the two and three year.

Anything else to consider?

How much time you need to spend in PH looking for the next deal?

Do the lease companies overlook any minor defects if the mileage is below the contract on return?

Friend of mine has a car due to go back soon and hasn’t covered anywhere near the mileage and the car has a couple of blemishes that would get picked up.

Once you start, you never stop looking. That's it now. you're stuck here biggrin

You will be told that factory orders can take between 2 and 4 months. Somtimes manufacturers delay things ( by not having enough parts, like the right engine for example) and it goes over this though.

WIth regard the XC90 Query, I just used carwow to get through to my local dealer for an S90. Santander are fairly inflexible when you call them direct( they said they couldn't order S90s) , but the dealers can tweak your initial rental to what you want and also mileage, servicing etc.
Here's a link to carwow

https://quotes.carwow.co.uk/r/2596507

Disclosure: if you use this link get some amazon tokens and would be happy to halve with anyone who uses it. If you go straight to Carwow, then nobody gets it.

Now I am reconsidering this offer - monthly amortised cost of the VW is £750 per month whereas the XC90 through Santander is £599 per month (zero deposit), although the XC90 is 6 months shorter on a 18 month lease?

Is my logic flawed? I have requested a 24 month quote from Santander just now to make a more like for like comparison.

If it helps I started looking for a GTI PP in January (A4 goes back in July) there price has not budged one bit since then. The Cupra came up on a hotUKdeals last month and I jumped on it. Yes, the GTI is way more desirable but not £60 a month more in my opinion. As many have said on here you chase the deal not the car. If you want to be rigid about the car you have to swallow the higher payments. Have you driven a Cupra and compared?

Yes, excluding any admin/broker fees that are applicable... amortised it's £562 on the VW on the 24m deal and £549 on the 36m deal.

Even if the Cupra and the GTI were the same price, the Cupra has more horsepower. The Cupra is more comparable to the Golf R if anything.

Also does the GTI have a limited slip differential and adaptive dampers as standard?
