my car is saying inspection due after having done 20k miles although this is 6 months before its due service date (need to extend mileage allowance), how long can i wait until it needs to go in, already done around 400 miles over, called them but they said services are down, would i get fined for not doing it as soon as possible?
Services are typically needed after a specified time OR a certain mileage whichever comes first. Normally you need to get it done inside 4 weeks or 1000 miles of whichever limit you hit but best check the rules that apply to your car. Details should be in your service book or on the manufacturers website.

No one tempted by the First Vehicle Leasing deal?

Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance :

I just got my Leon Cupra 290 delivered earlier than expected, I was told sometime in June. The car’s come with almost 300 miles on it! I wish they could’ve just delivered it on the back of a truck but I guess it’s one of those things, as long as it doesn’t come out of the mileage allowance I’ll get over it.
My golf r was delivered with 220 miles on and was told before delivery that I could pay £200 for trailer delivery or free driven delivery. £20 excess mileage charge for those 220 miles if you use up all the allocated mileage is only £20 anyway (220 miles @ 9ppm) so not really an issue. Usually it’s an older gentlemans job, and he averaged 37 mpg over those 220 miles and I have never got anywhere close to that.
Have ordered a cupra to replace the golf r. I got the leasing options hot uk deal.
I got one of the fleet prices jaguar I pace deals and Luckily that was delivered on a trailer for free with 4 miles on it.

Correct. Book it in. It’s 2 years or 20k Max. It’s condition based so it could be 18-20 depending in driving scenarios.

If you go into the left-hand page on the Sensus display and look at the service requirements, there is a countdown in days remaining until the service is due. You can go up to 30 days beyond this date and it will reset to 365 days remaining after the service.

(In fact, I got my dealer to do a manual reset before I drove the car away as the PDI had been done 3 months before and it was showing 235 days until due! After the reset, it in fact showed 360 days, but I wasn't going to quibble about the missing 5).
Does the service interval kick in as soon as you hit every 10K Miles, or is it just done by days elapsing?

So say I went past 10K but there was 50 days remaining, would it tell me I needed a service or just keep counting down the days?

If it is the latter, would I be in trouble with the garage (I’m direct with a main dealer) for not getting bit serviced at the 10K point?

Just trying to weight up the pros and cons of trying to avoid the second service (as I’m on 24 month contract) or, if I definitely need to do it because of my mileage, should I try and get them to sell me the £399 three year service plan?
What engine have you got?
Mine (T4) is 12 months or 18,000 miles service interval.
Where is your 10K figure coming from.....?

So would this be regardless of how many miles more I did for the rest of the year, it will always be every 10K miles, (for seat leon anyway). So let's say I extended the allowance by 5k (total 25k) for the remaining 6 months, I wouldn't need to service it after that right?

The servicing schedule and the terms of your finance agreement are NOT related. Extending your agreement by adding additional miles just means you will pay more each month and not have to pay all the excess miles at the end of the contract. The car has to be serviced according to the manufacturers schedule.

It was an older guy who delivered mine too, he must not have put his foot down at all because the car said it averaged nearly 43mpg over the nearly 300 miles.

Morning all,

Hope you can offer a little help for a newbie to the forum and a likely first time outing in the world of PCH.

Further to Imdeman87's recent post I have agreed a deal in principle on the following:

Peugeot 508 Fastback GT Line 1.6L PureTech 180 EAT8 S&S
15,000 miles pa
£1100 upfront and then 23 x £300pm (all incl VAT) so £8,000 incl over the 2 year term.

Appreciate that it is much more than Imdeman87 was due to pay (£5772) but this is the best I could find on decent car at high mileage.

Can anyone tell me if this is a good one or not?

Appreciate any assistance
Who was this quote from? Mine from Daniel on same terms was around £500 more over the term.

It shouldn’t. My Rocco R was driven up from Cardiff VW and had 281 miles on the clock. I took a copy of the delivery sheet which recorded the miles when it was delivered. Wrote 281 miles shown on delivery in mileage box on the agreement. Scanned both the agreement and the delivery sheet back to the dealer who confirmed we wouldn’t be charged for it. You haven’t done those miles therefore it should not count towards your allowance.

Aren't they given cash for fuel so however much they save is theirs?

It all depends on the funder, same start your mileage allowance using the mileage at delivery, some from the mileage at PDI. You need to check with your funder to be sure which it is

Mine is T4 also. I just plucked the figure out of the air, haha. This makes me wonder if it is worth getting the service pack since I only have it for 24 months and I won’t exceed 18,000 miles a year.

Alphabet/Lex don't take delivery out of your mileage. VWFS do.

Thanks @S5Scot - I'll have a think as I'm lining up for a house purchase so it might be a bit much for me atm.
I am in the same boat. Balancing that, mortgage, do you take a loan for car, does PCP or PCH look best on credit file etc. Minefield!
I am an independent mortgage financial advisor...Through my experience I would say a mortgage lender prefers a PCP/PCH as it is counted as a secured loan against the car and on your credit file it would say "Mercedes-benz finance for example" whereas if you took out a personal unsecured loan then the mortgage lender would just see it differently. Mortgage lenders are also being more lenient when it comes to PCP/PCH when assessing affordability..not always the case but definitely what i'm seeing with the majority of lenders i use. My best advice would be to sort the house first then get a car because the lender wouldn't know about it but I understand personal circumstances don't allow this. Hope this helps.

That’s disappointing considering I’m with VWFS. The delivery driver took a photo of the mileage when he dropped it off so I assumed that might’ve been to relay it to the dealer so they know not to count them towards my allowance.

I would say no.
I am planning to get mine serviced at 29 days past the due date so the 2nd service will not be due when I hand it back.

My Volvo dealer quoted £300 for the first service, but Volvo will price match and people have got it done for just over £200.

There is plenty of discussion over on the dedicated S90/V90 lease thread:
